Steca TR 0301 U
The Steca model TR 0301 U differential temperature control provides
automatic, safe and reliable operation of domestic solar water heating
systems. The TR 0301 U output is wired to a pump that circulates the
heat transfer fluid between the solar thermal collectors and the storage
tank during the course of the day. This microprocessor -based TR 0301 U
utilizes two RTD (resistance temperature detector) type sensors to mo-
nitor collector and tank temperatures with digital accuracy. The LCO gi-
ves the homeowner a variety of real time information including system
temperatures at up to ree separate locations. The consistent use of
simple pictograms emu ease of operation and troubleshooting.
In addition to the prim function of turning the circulating pump on
and off during the day, TR 0301 U provides important diagnostic and
safety functions. For exa pie, the LCD pictograms will indicate fault con-
ditions such as sensor its or pump failures..The installation manual
also clearly describes the fault symptoms, possible causes and remedies.
The TR 0301 U features a.total of three inputs for recording tempe-
rature and one 120 VAC output for the circulating pump. Varistors
protect the sensor inputs against high voltage spikes. The load side is
fuse protected. The control package includes two RTC type sensors, a
seven foot line cord and a spare fuse. An optional third sensor displays
the upper tank temperaturg and eliminates the need for an analog
thermometer and fittings.
The numerous additional features of the TR 0301 U include an adju-
stable high limit (320 F - 2050 F), an evacuated tubs collector function,
vacation overheat protection to minimize collector stagnation, and a
freeze -recirculation option. Temperatures can be displayed in either
Fahrenheit CF) or Celsius M.

1. Absorber Plate
Utilizing a state-of-the-art sonic weld,
copper fins and risers provide superior
thermal connectivity between the fins and
risers. Revolutionary coating is black
chrome on nickel, producing a premium
selective surface with maximum efficiency
for solar energy use. Easy absorber
replacement if needed.
Absorbability = 0.95
Emissivity = 0.12
2. Tubing Grid
3/8" copper risers are brazed to 1." copper
mainfolds for optimal flow distribution.
3. Piping Connection
1" Type M copper header.
4. Aluminum Foil
Attached to the insulation, acts as a barrier
against out -Basing.
5. Solar Glass Glazing
A single pane of 1/8" thick solar glass is
patterned to reduce reflection and tempered
to maximize strength and durability.
*Iron oxide content:
0.03%
*Solar transmittance: 91 %
6. Back Plate .
High -Density Polyethylene Backing:
Reduces torque in the frame, is lightweight
and eliminates the possibility of any
electrolysis issues for maximum benefit.
7. Insulation
1-3/16" polyisocyanu rate foam cast under

and around the side of the absorber plate,
retains the heat of the water in the collector. .
DFC-free P.U. meets U,S. and European
standards. A 3/4" layer of mineral wool
protects the polyurethane and provides
additional collector insulation.
8. Casing
All aluminum extrusion casings create a
sleek framewall. Unique extruded profile
allows easy anchoring to the roof (shingle,
file, tar) or collector stands. Reinforced
corner assemblies to increase rigidity.
9. Gaskets
All-around EPDM gasket. Highly resistant to
temperature differences and UV radiation.
Absorbs the differential expansion of frame
and glazing.
