As an alternate to placing the perimeter pier directly under the perimeter joist on the floor system, the pier may be recessed up to a aximum of ten inches (10") from the outside edge of the floor system (sidewall side ONLY) when a minimum 4x4 P.T. that spans a minimum of two Floor joists is used on top of the recessed pier see detail above). 2. THEN CONNECT TO DUCT DROP FROM RANGE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. 3. SECURE THE VENT CAP TO THEI OUTSIDE OF THE SKIRTING AT THE APPROPRIATE LOCATION. 4. SECURE THE END OF THE DOW DRAFT RANGE DUCT TO THE VENT CAP AT THE EXTERIOR OF THE HOME WITH CLAMPS OR SCREWS. NbTE: DO NOT USE ANY FASTENERS THAT CRUSH OR BLOCK THE DUCT. 5. STRAP THE DUCT TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOME TO PREVENT THE DUCT FROM BENDING OR COMING IN CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. 6. SEAL THE OPENINGS AROUND THE DUCT WHERE IT PASSES THROUGH THE FLOOR WITH CAULK OR DUCT TAPE, AND THE BOTTOf BOARD WITH DUCT TAPE.
