" o 6-4 Wood Trusses 1. Wood trusses, beams and Roof systems by truss company, shall be designed and certified by a Florida Registered Structural Engineer. Shop drawings complete with structural load reactions must be submitted for approval and verify anchors stated on drawings . Installation and temporary field bracing shall be in strict accordance with manufacturers specifications and applicable codes and standards. Approved galvanized truss anchors shall be provided at each bearing. Installation shall separate bottom chord of trusses from concrete (where applicable) with either 30# felt or SBCCI approved galvanized or stainless truss seats. Truss manufacture shall supply architect shop drawing sheets of designed truss with bearing loads and uplift loads for review and approval prior to manufacturing. 2. Provide 2 x 4 bridging at 8' - 0" c/c at the bottom chord and as otherwise called for on the truss shop drawings. Adequate bracing and bridging shall be used during erection of the trusses to prevent collapse or damage to the trusses. 3. Supports for top chord or ceiling hung mechanical equipment and other items supported by the wood trusses shall be attached to the trusses at panel points. The general contractor shall coordinate the installation of those items and assure that provisions are made in the design of the truss by manufacturer for the concentrated loads imposed and dimensional size / weight of the equipment. All dynamic (with moving parts) shall be spring hung absorbing sound transmission and movement. 6-5 Field Measurements - Truss manufacturer to take measurements in field as required to verify or supplement dimensions on drawings and assume responsibility for fit of wood trusses. 6-6 Wood in direct contact with concrete, or masonry shall be pressure treated with the requirements of the standards of the American Wood Preservers Association. SBX Sodium Borate pressure treated wood shall be used against concrete or masonry that is not exposed to water or exterior elements. Alkaline copper (ACQ-C/D) or Copper Azole (CBA-A or CA-B) shall be used for exterior applications. Wood in contact with soil shall be marine grade treated. 6-7 Rough Carpentry - Select material so that knots and defects will not interfere with placing bolts or proper nailing. Produce joints which are tight, true, and well nailed, with members assembled in accordance with the Drawings and with pertinent codes and regulations. Lumber may be rejected by Architect or Owner, whether or not it has been installed, for excessive warp, twist, bow, mildew, mold, as well as for improper cutting or fitting. All wood stud walls shall be 16" on center unless noted otherwise and shall be straight, true and plumb to a tolerance of 1/8" in 10 feet. Ceilings to be shimmied as required to level to 1 /8" in 10 feet. Provide blocking as required for installation to support all finish or trim items. Comply with "Fastening Schedule" of the F.B.C. 2017 edition and other fastening requirements contained in the pertinent regulations of governmental agencies having jurisdiction. 6-8 Finish Carpentry Interior trim to be paint grade poplar as shown on drawings, with painted finish. Unconditioned areas shall have all wood primed all sides. All doors and windows to be 4" fluted wood jamb/head cased painted per drawing. All rooms (excluding bathrooms) shall have 6" wood base trim. The profile shall match the same size and style of the adjacent building trim and approved by the owner. Bathrooms shall have coved ceramic tile base as selected by owner. Produce joints which are true, tight, and well nailed with all members assembled in accordance with the drawings or directed by the owner. Make joints to conceal shrinkage, miter exterior joints, cope interior joints, miter or scarf end -to -end joints. Install trim in pieces as long as possible, jointing only where solid support is obtained. Finger joint not allowed if stained finish. Sandpaper finished wood surfaces thoroughly as required to produce a uniformly smooth surface, always sanding in the direction of the grain. No coarse grained sandpaper mark, hammer mark, or other imperfection will be accepted. 6-9 Metal fasteners, clips, holddowns - All model numbers are per Simpson Strong- Tie Company, Inc. If an alternative manufacture is used - submit allowable loads, capacities to the architect for approval. 6-10 Sheathing 1. Roof Sheathing - shall be 4' x 8' x 5/8"(min.) CDX plywood.
