OPEN WEB STEEL JOISTS
SJ-1 ALL OPEN WEB STEEL JOISTS SHALL CONFORM TO THE "STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS AND LOAD TABLES FOR OPEN WEB STEEL JOISTS, K-SERIES OR
LH-SERIES" OF THE STEEL JOIST INSTITUTE.
SJ-2 NO LOADS SHALL BE APPLIED TO THE JOISTS UNTIL ALL BRIDGING HAS BEEN
INSTALLED AND THE JOIST ENDS HAVE BEEN SECURED TO THEIR SUPPORTS.
SJ-3 ALL BRIDGING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SJI REQUIREMENTS.
SJ-4 PROVIDE EXTENDED ENDS AS INDICATED ON DRAWINGS.
SJ-5 PROVIDE CAMBER PER SJI REQUIREMENTS.
SJ-6 JOISTS SHALLBE DESIGNED FOR THE WIND UPLIFT INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS.
AT A MINIMUM, A SINGLE LINE OF BOTTOM CHORD BRIDGING SHALL BE PROVIDED
NEAR THE FIRST BOTTOM CHORD PANEL POINT AT EACH END OF THE JOIST. JOIST
MANUFACTURER SHALL PROVIDE ADDITIONAL BOTTOM CHORD BRIDGING AS
REQUIRED. THE JOIST MANUFACTURER SHALL BE PERMITTED TO INCLUDE ANY
ALLOWABLE STRESS INCREASE PERMITTED BY CODE WHEN DESIGNING FOR THE
NET WIND UPLIFT.
SJ-7 FIELD BOLT CONNECTIONS WILL BE TESTED AND INSPECTED ACCORDING TO RCSC'S
"SPECIFICATION FOR STRUCTURAL JOINTS USING ASTM A 325 OR A 490 BOLTS."
SJ-8 ALL OPEN WEB STEEL JOISTS WITH ANY PORTION HAVING EXTERIOR EXPOSURE
SHALL BE HOT DIPPED GALVANIZED. ALL CONNECTIONS SHALL BE TOUCHED UP
WITH COLD GALVANIZING SPRAY AFTER CONSTRUCTION.
METAL DECKING
MD-1 ALL STEEL ROOF DECK SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE "STEEL ROOF
DECK SPECIFICATIONS AND LOAD TABLES" OF THE STEEL DECK INSTITUTE,
LATEST EDITION.
MD-2 ALL STEEL ROOF DECK SHALL BE ,AS A MINIMUM, 1-1/2 INCH, 20-GAGE, WIDE -
RIBBED STEEL DECK, WITH A YIELD STRENGTH OF NOT LESS THAN 33,000 PSI
AND SHALL BE HOT -DIPPED GALVANIZED.
MD-3 STEEL ROOF DECK SHALL BE CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING 50 PSF AT THE SPANS
INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS OR AT A SPAN OF 6'-0", WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
MD-4 ALL STEEL ROOF DECK SHALL BE FASTENED TO THE SUPPORTING STEEL WITH
5/8 INCH DIAMETER ARC PUDDLE WELDS AND AT SIDE DECK LAPS WITH #12 TEK
SCREWS AS INDICATED ON THE DECK ATTACHMENT SCHEDULE. ANY SPLIT OR
PARTIAL PANELS SHALL BE FASTENED TO THE SUPPORTING STRUCTURE IN
EVERY VALLEY REGARDLESS OF ADJACENT FASTENER PATTERNS.
MD-5 ALL STEEL FLOOR DECK SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE
"SPECIFICATIONS FOR COMPOSITE STEEL FLOOR DECK" OF THE STEEL DECK
INSTITUTE, LATEST EDITION.
MD-6 ALL STEEL DECK SHALL BE, AS A MINIMUM, 1-1/2 INCH, 22-GAGE
COMPOSITE DECK WITH A YIELD STRENGTH OF NOT LESS THAN 33,000 PSI AND
SHALL BE HOT DIPPED GALVANIZED. COMPOSITE STEEL DECK MUST BE
ACCEPTABLE FOR USE IN THE U.L. DESIGN ASSEMBLY NOTED ON
ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS.
MD-7 ALL STEEL FLOOR DECK SHALL BE CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING THE
COMBINED WEIGHT OF THE WET CONCRETE PLUS A 20 PSF CONSTRUCTION LOAD
AT THE INDICATED SPANS. THE DEFLECTION OF THE DECK UNDER THE ABOVE
LOADS SHALL NOT EXCEED 1/180 OF THE SPAN NOR 3/4 INCH, WHICHEVER IS
LESS.
MD-8 ALL STEEL FLOOR DECK SHALL BE WELDED TO ALL SUPPORTING STEEL
ELEMENTS WHERE NO SHEAR STUDS ARE USED. WELDING WASHERS SHALL BE
USED AS REQUIRED BY THE DECK MANUFACTURER.
MD-10 ALL DECK SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF THREE SPANS CONTINUOUS.
MD-11 DECKING CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE OPENING SIZES AND LOCATIONS IN
FLOORS AND ROOFS FROM ARCHITECTURAL AND MECHANICAL DRAWINGS. HE
SHALL PROVIDE HEADER MEMBERS IF REQUIRED AS PER THE TYPICAL DETAILS.
MD-12 DECKING CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE SCREED ANGLES AND CLOSURE PLATES
AS REQUIRED AT THE EDGES OF ALL FLOOR OPENINGS AND AT ALL SLAB
DEPRESSIONS OR CHANGES OF DECK DIRECTION, WHICH HAVE NOT BEEN
DETAILED.
MD-13 PRIOR TO AND DURING CONCRETE PLACEMENT, THE FLOOR DECK SHALL BE
PLANKED TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE DECK. CONCENTRATED AND IMPACT
LOADS SHALL BE AVOIDED.
MD-14 CONCRETE SHALL BE PLACED FROM A LOW LEVEL TO AVOID IMPACT , AND IN A
UNIFORM MANNER OVER THE SUPPORTING STRUCTURE AND SPREAD TOWARD
