least seven (7) days before starting work. The CONTRACTOR shall confirm the
commencement of work with the ENGINEER by submittal of a Notice to Owner.
5. Notification of Neighbors: The CONTRACTOR .shall provide a

18. Compliance with Environmental Regulations: Compliance with
local, state and federal 'egulations .concerning emissions of solid, particulate,
liquid, or. gaseous matter s a result of the cleaning, painting, or other operations
under ,this Agreement shillbe the responsibility of the CONTRACTOR. This
compliance . shall be ac omplished without supervision from the OWNER,
ENGINEER, or other ' ect or indirect agents of the OWNER. No additional
compensations for - changes in the laws, regulations, or the interpretation thereof
shall be granted by the OWNER. All shielding, abrasive retrieval, or other
-methods-of -using--precau ion required -byAhe-regulating --agencies -shall =also - be
accomplished at.no additional cost to the . OWNER unless otherwise provided
herein.
19. . Attractive Nuisances and Cleanup: The job site shall be kept in a
clean and safe condition at all times. Hazards or attractive nuisances shall be
protected at all times by proper postings and barricade tape. Upon completion of
the work, the job site shall be left clean of all debris, blasting residue, or any other
items resulting from the o erations of the CONTRACTOR. The cost of any clean
up that must be accomplished by the OWNER shall be .deducted from funds due
the CONTRACTOR.
20. Qualily of !Material A lication: All demolition, cleaning, and
repair mortar or coating application shall be done in a workmanlike manner.
Curing ,times, temperature requirements, minimum/maximum application times,
and specifications shall be strictly enforced by the CONTRACTOR and
ENGINEER.. A smooth, aesthetic, and finished appearance will be the criteria for
acceptance of the work.
21. Material Application: All temperature and humidity requirements
of the repair material manufacturer's published product data shall be strictly

26. Containment -of .:Blasting Debris -and QverspLay: The

or other contaminants mill be contained to prevent unnecessary and avoidable
damage to interior space on an attachment with the Contractor's Bid Worksheet.

in the Base Bid. The OWNER reserves the right to stop work or to require
additional containment methods, if the CONTRACTOR'S operations create a
nuisance beyond the site or as deemed appropriate. by the OWNER, ENGINEER,
or the OWNER'S designa representative.
27. Removaland Disposal of Blasting Residue and Demolished
Concrete: Drop chutes depositing blasting materials from the work area to the
ground shall be furnished by the CONTRACTOR.
28. Material Safety Data Sheets: Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
shall -be available .at the jo site ,for each product used, including but not limited to
mortars, .grouts, coatings, thinners, other solvents, disinfecting agents, abrasives,
and flexiblesealant material.
29. Surface Conditions: The surfaces to be repaired shall be free from
mud, oil, grease, dust, moisture, salts, and other foreign material which would
cause adhesion or other problems in the finished product. The Manufacturer's
Published Product Data concerning the time between coats and the preparation of
previous applications shall be followed. If field tests by the ENGINEER finds
' questionable amounts of contamination on. the steel surfaces or -concrete substrate,
a representative of the in ufacturer may be called to examine the surfaces in
question and determine if -e surfaces are in accordance with these Specifications
...-and the -manufacturer's published -product data.
G. SPECIFICATIONS FOR O SCAFFOLDING, RIGGING,' SHORING,
FORMING
1. Shop Drawihg Submittals: One set of Shop Drawings of fabricated
items shall be submitted to the ENGINEER for review. The purpose of the
drawings is to communicate ate -to the ENGINEER, what the CONTRACTORS
general intent is with respect to scaffolding, accessibility, dust barriers, weather
wall installation, or safety features. Drawings submitted shall include the
materials to be used, fastening system, or unusual installation techniques. Shop
drawing requirements may be waived at the discretion of the ENGINEER.
H. UNANTICIPATED ADDfTIONAL WORK
The specifications adequately describe the work to be performed based on the
amount of information avanlable at the time of preparation. However, additional
effort (shoring, forming, additional slab/panel demolition and replacement) may
be required. Increases in scope exceeding 1 S% of original quantity (Linear
footage, square footage, etc) shall be approved in advance by the engineer. Work
shall be stopped in the event of exposed, previously unknown damaged areas.

A. REPLACEMENT OF HANDRAIL ASSEMBLIES
1. In areas whe a replacement of concrete balcony panels or concrete
spalling repair is required as described above, the handrail assemblies
shall be removed and replaced. Subcontracting. of the handrail
assemblies is approved. The contractor shall make an effort not to
damage or remove any handrail assembly unless necessary to perform
