Review Comment #10, dated 07/25/2008
Dear Mr. Greg Smyth,
This letter addresses the Review Comment #10 dated 07/25/2008 for the _ ie
Maintenance Building.
10. Number of plumbing fixtures are not equal for worn and FBC Section P403.3.
Section P403.3 of the code states: 'The required a set, ories, and showers or
bathtubs shall be distributed equally between xe as d on the percentage of each sex
anticipated in the occupant load. The occ nt e composed of 50% of each sex,
unless statistical data approved by the cod ✓ci i dicate a different distribution of the sexes. "
The number of fixtures required, and provided, are as listed below:
• 20 water closets are required; 22 water closets are provided: 9 are in Women's Toilet
Room and 13 are in Men's Toilet Rooms.
• 15 lavatories are required; 25 are provided: 9 are in the Women's Toilet Room and 16
are in the Men's Toilet Rooms.
The intent of this letter is to document that the distribution of sexes at the St. Lucie Nuclear
Power Plant is not 50% and that the project meets the requirements of the Florida Building Code,
Section P403.3.
This building is located inside the protected area of the FPL St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant and
access into the protected area is restricted. This building is designed to house FPL personnel
assigned to the St. Lucie facility. The Human Resources Department at FPL St. Lucie has verified
that the distribution of FPL employees with badges at St. Lucie Plant is 89% male and 11%
female. Therefore we have an occupant load that is not 50% of each sex.
Sincerely,
TH '1STIN COMPANY
