Use approved lie -offs, nailing or rails when working on roof surfaces: Check wire rope for Eroken atrands, broken woe and kinking. Replace damaged, unsafe rope Immediately. Personal protection equipment should always meet OSHA standards. Always wear approved eye protection. Electrical tools must be properlygrounded..Do not use electrical toots or equipment white standing on wet surfaces. Return tools to their proper place when not In use. Don't allow tools, blocking or materials to become a falling hazard. Your Safety At Work PANELS MAY BE SLICK Panels maybe oiled and slick. Oil protects the panel Con stock and finished panels from rust during shipping end storage. Dew, frost or any other moisture may cause panels to be slippery. Be certain to wipe panels clean before Installation begins. Wear rubber sole work boots. When on the roof, use OSHA approved protection devices such as safety tins, safety nets or a catch platform. UNSECURED PANELS MAY SLIP IF STEPPED ON / Employees should be Continuously warned to never step on a single unsecured roof panel ore slackof roof panels laying unattached on the purllns. Secure each and with clamps at appropriate fasteners and place walkboards In the flat of any panels not fully secured to the purllns and supported by panels on each side. Walkboards should run to the full length of the panel and be fastened together by drilling a hole near the end of each board and tying It with rope to the next board. (Cut a groove In the bollem of each board so that the board will Ile fiat and not lip back and forth because of the rope). Your Safety At Work SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR ROOFING WORK American Buildings Company strongly recommends that erection employees be continuously trained and retrained In safe and productive work practices. Working on the roof area In the Installation of roof strocturels, Insulallon or roof panels requires proper training, correct equipment and constant alertness to minimize the danger of falls. Hard hats should be worn on job sites to prevent Injury from falling objects. Workers should always be aware of their location to the roof edge. Safe work practices on the following erection duties should be carefully reviewed with erection crews prior to beginning each )ob. PANEL MAY COLLAPSE IF NOT PROPERLY SECURED Roof panels must be Completely attached to the purllns and to panels on either side before they me be a safe walking surface. Partially attached or unattached panels should never be walked onl DO NOT: 1. Step on rib at edge o1 panel 2. Step near crease In rib at edge of panel 3. Step within 5 feet of edge at unsecured panel Roof panels must never be used as work platforms.
