derwritersj Laboratories or
with U.L. oversize certif-
ere the opgning exceeds the
ize, but isiless than the
i oversize designation.
n to be (manual, push up
(chain hoist operated using
ction and galvanized hand
ind crank hoist operated
{
using gears and removable hand
crank) (by motor operator). Doors to
automatically close in event of fire.
Curtains are to be assembled of in-
terlocking slats cold roll formed from
(galvanized steel) (stainless steel).
Gauge of steel is to satisfy Under-
writers' Laboratories requirement for
label designated. Each end of every
slat is to be fitted with a malleable
iron endlock to act as a wearing
surface in guides, to prevent flame
passage, and to maintain slat align-
ment. Steel slats are to be galvan-
ized with a zinc coating in accor-
dance with A.S.T.M. A 525-80. Each
curtain is to be reinforced with a
bottom bar consiting of two (steel)
(stainless steel) angles.
Spring counterbalance is to be
housed in a steel pipe of diameter
and wall thickness to restrict max-
imum deflection to .03" per foot of
door width. Springs to be helical
torsion type designed to include an
overload factor of 25% and for
optimum ease of operation. Hand
chain pull load is not to exceed 35 lbs.
Springs are to be grease packed and
are to be mounted on a cold rolled
steel inner shaft. Spring tension is to
be adjustable from outside of end
bracket plate. Furnish sealed ball
bearings to minimize wear of pipe
shaft rotation around inner shaft.
Bracket plates carrying pipe
counterbalancing shaft are to be of
steel plate no less than '/4" thickness.
The drive end bracket plate is to be
fitted with a sealed ball bearing..
Plates are to house ends of each door
coil. Each door is to be equipped with
an oscillating governor to control the
speed of descent.
Guides are to consist of (structural
steel) (stainless steel) angles of 3/16"
minimum thickness.
Hoods to house each coil are to be
fabricated of (galvanized steel) (stain-
less steel) sheet metal no lighter than
#24 U.S. gauge and are to be
laterally reinforced. In order to pre-
vent sag, furnish intermediate hood
supports where door width exceeds
12'011.
Locking chain hoist doors are to
include a hand chain locking bracket
for padlocking chain. Crank hoist
doors to include a locking disc on
crankbox for padlocking. Gearing for
motor operated doors is to be
self locking.
Fimsh for ungalvanized surfaces is
to consist of a shop coat of rust inhib-
iting metallic primer. Field painting is
not included in this section. Stainless
steel to have (#2B) (#4) finish.
Installation is to be by manufacturer
or his authorized representative.
optional featurs-5
Motor operation (add ).
Motor operator is to include high
starting torque motor, reduction gear-
ing, solenoid brake, limit switches for
upper and lower limits of door travel,
emergency hand chain with elec-
trical interlock to break motor c;rcuit
when hand chain is engaged, mag-
netic relay contactor, overload pro-
tection, prewiring to terminal block,
and 3 button operating station.
Motor is to be removable for repair
without effecting emergency opera-
tion. Manufacturer is to furnish
wiring diagram.
Safety edge (add). Safety edges
are to be furnished for motor oper-
ated doors. Upon contact with
obstruction door is to (stop) (stop
and reverse to open position). Field
wiring is not included in this section.
PainVng If all surfaces are to be
painted including galvanized mate-
rial — substitute the following under
the "FiNISH" heading: (Galvanized
