We have reviewed the comments from Plans Examiner William Durden dated August 15, 2018. This letter addresses those comments. The above referenced project has a existing roof covering systems the roof that will be removed down to the wood deck. This project contains both flat roof and sloped roof areas. The new roof systems will be installed per the following specifications. Any necessary sheathing repairs shall be performed per code with minimum size of sheathing repairs to span three (3) rafters (approximately 48"). The existing deck and any repairs shall be re -nailed per current code requirements. The base layer shall be one of the following: Glasbase; Flexiglas; Flintlastic Base 20; All Weather/ Empire Base; Poly SMS Base; Ultra Poly SMS Base; Yosemite with Flintfast 3-inch Insulation Plates with FlintFast #14; Trufast 3-inch Metal Insulation Plates with Trufast HD fastened per the schedule below: Zone Effective Area (minimum) Nominal (ASD) Wind Load Pressure Maximum Pressure per Method of Manufacturer +PSF -PSF 2 36 SF 26.6 78.0 -196.75 PSF 3 9 SF 29.8 120.6 -196.75 PSF All areas shall be fastened at 4" on center at 3" lap and 4" on center at four (4) equally spaced, staggered center rows. First Ply Roof Covering System: SBS-SA-H The first ply shall be Black Diamond Base Sheet with 4" side laps and 6" end laps with end laps diagonally staggered not less than 3' apart. Roof Covering System: APP-TA The bonded roof cover shall be Flintlastic GTA CoolStar applied in hot asphalt at 25 Ibs/square. Follow manufacturers product application requirements for additional installation requirements. Material Specifications for the Sloped Roof Underlayment System: QUIK-Stick self-adhesive, Florida Product Approval: FL 17401-114 The underlayment system shall be installed over minimum 15/32" thick, APA rated plywood. The base layer shall be one of the following: QUIK-Stick Ice & Water Granular, QUIK-Stick Ice & Water Sand, QUIK-Stick HT (High Temperature), QUIK-Stick HT Product (High Temperature), or QUIK- Stick FS (Film Surface) fastened per below: The underlayment shall be installed with the release backer removed and pressed firmly into place to ensure complete contact with the deck. It is permissible to back nail the underlayment 12 inches on -center as needed (nails shall be installed perpendicular to deck with the nail heads flush to the top surface of the underlayment). I approve the use of 24 gauge roof panels for this product, all other specifications remain the same. The approved fasteners shall be #9-16 or #10-14 hex head wood screws with sealed washer and fastener length to penetrate the deck a minimum of 3/8". The fasteners spacing shall be 12" on center maximum along the length of the panel. There shall be 6 fasteners per panel width at the panel ends and 4 fasteners per panel width at intermediate. Follow manufacturers product application requirements for additional installation requirements. I have reviewed the above information and certify that to my best knowledge and belief; the referenced method of attachment provides adequate resistance to the wind loads and forces specified by current code provisions.
