visit was made to determine the subsurface soil condition in the location of the
)posed swimming pool at the referenced project.
he site investigation program consisted of performing two (2) hand augers and two (2)
ortable dynamic penetrometer "Wildcat" tests in the location of the proposed
wimming pool. The dynamic penetrometer tests were terminated at a depth of 14 feet
elow existing grade, and the hand -auger borings at a depth of 6 feet below existing
rade. The location of the test holes are indicated on the Boring Logs.
)uring the portable dynamic penetrometer test, a 35 lb. (16 kg) safety hammer is lifted
nd allowed to fall 15 in. (38 centimeters). Hammer blows are counted by the operator
)r each 10 centimeters of penetration with the counting facilitated by scribes spaced at
0 centimeters on each 1 meter long rod. Blows per 10 centimeters of penetration,
ynamic cone resistance and equivalent SPT `N' values are measured and shown on
ie attached "Wildcat" logs.
3ased on our interpretation of the boring logs, it appears there are very loose/soft soil
ayers below the proposed pool bottom. The very loose/soft layerx generally consists of
ine-grained sand, a fine-grained silt/clay. The unsuitable soils were found to a depth of
Ipproximately 8 feet below existing grade. At a depth of 8 feet the soils are medium-
lense.
