Box 2168 - FILE. kof Ocala,.FL 34414-2168 RE: Florida structural additions to.Skyline homes including but not limited to add -a -rooms, roof -over porches and carports. As stated in the Skyline Installation Manual, structures attached to the side of Skyline constructed homes are to be free-standing and self-supporting so that all loads are transferred'directly to the ground. Only the mating flashings are to be attached to the main unit. As an alternate, attached structures which are constructed in accordance with local ons'tate building codes, but which may not be completely self-supporting may be attached to the sidewall studding of a Skyline constructed home providing the following: ` 1. The attached structure is 14 feet or less in width when viewed from the hitch end of the home. Alternately, the attachment may be wider than 14 feet provided that the structure is supported such that no more than a 14 foot span is directly adjacent to and supported by.the manufactured home. 2. The home is perimeter supported where the attached structure adjoins the home. Piers are to be placed under the perimeter of the home as described by Page 12 of the Skyline Installation Manual.. The piers are to be located near each end of the attached structure and not exceeding 4 feet on center. Each pier shall be designed to impart a load of 1,000 pounds to the ground. 3. The perimeter ofthe home shall be secured to the ground with additional tie -down strap and earth anchors or equivalent. Vertical tie -down straps are to be installed near each end of the attached structured and not exceed 5 feet 4 inches on center in Zone II or 4 feet on center in Zone III. The capacity of the added tie -down straps and earth anchors shall be 1,500 pounds for Zone II and 2,000 pounds for Zone III. 4. The attachment of the added structure to the home as well as the construction and installation of that structure shall be inspected by the local building official. With adherence to these conditions the home should safely transfer any increased loads to the ground which may result from the added structure. Skyline will not warrant the added structure or it's attachment to the manufactured home.
