Subject: Floor Truss and C'asterete Lintel Revisions
Dear Mr. Willett,
Marc'
SCANNED
BY
St Lucie County
The new floor truss layout, through the second story floor section
above the garage (Exercise room, etc.), has the floor trusses span across the entire
garage, bearing in turn, on both of the exterior CBS walls, rather than on a series of
floor girders and steel columns, as originally designed. This has cleaned up the
design considerably.
This has eliminated a major bearing on one of the. garage door
beams, allowing us to use lintels above all of the openings, eliminating the formed
and poured beam originally, required, but has added more distributed load on each of
the three lintels above the garage doors.
Consequently, each of the lintels should contain two #5 rebars,
the course of block directly above the lintel should be constructed of beam block and
also contain two #5 rebars. The bond beam on top of these openings should also
contain two #5 rebars. All of the intervening courses of block can be constructed in a
normal manner. All of the cells above the garage door openings should be filled with
coarse grout, from the bond beam, down to the lintel, forming an approximate 66
deep composite beam. A #7 rebar may be substituted for two #5 rebars if you wish.
If you have any questions , please contact me at your convenience.
Thank you.
Sincere
