i
Dear Sirs,
In regard to the residence currently under review, my calculations
show that the three sided 24w X 72w X 24w X 62h 3/8"thk. mitered, tempered butt
glass window installations will each have a deflection of less than 1/2".
The 1-3/4" X 4" open back, aluminum flush glaze can be anchored to
the concrete block with #14 X 2" steel flat head Phillips screws through pressure
treated 1X3 wood bucks (shot into the block with 8d case hardened nails or attached
with 3/16" X 2-1/4" long Tapcon Concrete screws every 18"). The flush glaze may,
alternately, be attached directly to the CBS using Tapcon concrete screws--3/16"
dia. X 1-3/4" long @ 18" o/c.
This installation will withstand the applied force of 41 psf resulting
from a shape factor of 1.65 and a 110 mph wind load and should meet the
requirements of the Palm Beach County and SBC building codes.
If you have any questions , please contact me at your convenience. Thank you.
Sincerely
Dr. Ernest A. Kuonen,
