TREASURE COAST COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY
ELECTION OF LOW-INCOME REPRESENTATIVE
The Treasure Coast Community Action Agency Advisory Board administers the Community
Services Block Grant (CSBG) funds distributed through the State of Florida, by the Department of
Commerce that receives these funds from the federal government. The funds help low-income
residents achieve self-sufficiency by overcoming barriers to their success. This can include
completing education and obtaining childcare, transportation, or related needs. The advisory
board works with County staff to identify unmet needs and determine how the funds will be used
each year.
The advisory board must have one representative of the low-income population chosen by a
democratic election process. The representative must reside in a low-income area but does not
need to be low-income himself or herself.
This is a VOLUNTEER position with a three-year commitment to participate in four (4) meetings
per year, every quarter (January, April, July and October). There is no payment for participating
on this board.
Anyone wishing to apply for a place on this board must send a written statement of their
qualifications or a resume to Community Services, 2300 Virginia Ave, Fort Pierce, Florida 34982
no later than 5:00 pm, Thursday, September 21, 2023, to be added to the election ballot.
The election will take place on Thursday, September 28, 2023, 2:00 PM at the Family Success
Center Classroom, 714 Ave C, Fort Pierce, Florida 34950. All St. Lucie County residents may vote
in the election on that day.
