RE: 7651 Pelican Point Drive, Jensen Beach, Florida 34957; SLC Permit #:
1908-0352 40
Dear St. Lucie County Building Department Staff,
By way of this letter I hereby certify that I am a State stt CE
Professional Engineer and that I am the original EQ13 of
signed & sealed the Building Plans for the above referer&VpL0CDjacQpjMTY
ago. It is my understanding that the building plans that my firm de Ol aiiZ,)
which I signed and sealed on October 211t, 2015 required modifications.
However, since the current contractor (i.e., Watlee Construction) assisting with
this after -the -fact permit was provided my firms plans from a few years ago
from the owner, Watlee Construction contacted my firm to assist with the after -
the -fact construction field modification construction certifications. The elevator
shaft elevation was evidently constructed higher than allowable by St. Lucie
County land development code maximum building height requirements.
Therefore, the existing elevator shaft has been modified by Watlee
Construction so that the maximum height of the elevator shaft has been lowered
to bring it into compliance with St. Lucie County Land Development Code
Maximum Height Requirements. I hereby certify there was no electrical,
plumbing, HVAC or Gas work modifications made to the elevator shaft.
Watlee Construction modified the height of the existing elevator shaft by
removing the top 6 feet of the elevator shaft wall. The existing walls were
framed with 2x8x10' lumber and the modification included cutting the lumber
to 4' in total height. Since the re -engineered elevator shaft is now 6' lower than
the original design performed by EGI Engineering Great Ideas I hereby certify
that calculated structural dead and live loads have decreased overall from the
FILE COPY
C CFI•
original engineering design. Based on my inspection of the reconstructed
elevator shaft it is my professional opinion that the reconstructed elevator
shaft has been substantially. completed. All proper hurricane strapping has
been reinstalled and all components and cladding materials have been
modified and reinstalled in accordance with the original building plans and
manufacturers approvals. Therefore, please accept this letter as certification
that it is my professional opinion that all construction has now be completed
in accordance with the structural requirements of Chapter 16, Section 1609
of the 6" Edition, 2017 Florida Building Code and now also complies with
the St Lucie County land development code maximum building height
requirements.
Should you have any questions or comments regarding this certified letter,
please feel free to contact me by way of phone at (813) 752-7078 or by way
of email at rroberts.egi@gjnail.com .

Ryan,
The design professionals letter and copy of the elevation page do not meet the minimum requirements that need to be
submitted for plans review for after the fact construction. A revised design professionals letter will need to specify the
specifics that were used for the design, installation, and inspection.
Submit a set of plans showing the specifics, which need to be reviewed and authorized by Planning and Zoning prior to
our review.
This will ensure we have met the building height and appearance criteria needed for us to perform the review. The new
plans that we receive needs to indicate all of the work to be performed. This would include any structural, components
and cladding, electrical, mechanical and/or plumbing that may be involved.
This letter has been sent under the direction of the St. Lucie County Building Official, and will be added to the permit file
number 1908-0352.
Thank you,

Permits 1511-0090 and 1908-0352
Ryan,
Thank you for our conversation regarding permits 1511-0090 and 1908-0352. 1 would like to confirm our conversation in
regards to the request for a cancelation of permit number 1908-0352. And the final inspection for permit number 1511-
0090.
To recap, permit number 1511-0090 cannot be finalled until permit number 1908-0352 is completed. You will need to
submit two sets of signed and sealed drawings from your design professional in charge for the lowering of the elevator
tower located on the roof. The plans must show the structural requirements for the alteration of the elevators tower,
with elevations showing the heights.
To void permit number 1908-0352 you can submit the information request above, as a revision to the original permit
1511-0090, please note that permit number 1908-0352 cannot be voided until the revision has been approved and
issued for the final inspections. If the work has been completed and the St. Lucie County inspectors cannot inspect the
work, a design professional's letter will be required for the final inspection.
Once again thank you for taking the time to discuss the issues with me.
