Dear St. Lucie County Building Department: SQgg vv
Please see specific specifications and notes for the construction of the concrete foundation aAe(u0ie% ®
aforementioned location for the owners use. County
Concrete Foundation Notes
1- Slab / footings to be concrete with a minimum 2500psi compressive strength at 28 days. See
plan for sizes and steel requirements.
2- Minimum concrete protection for reinforcing bars, 3 inch.
Sub grade Preparation Notes
1- The area within the limits of the foundations shall have all vegetation, topsoil, and foreign
material removed.
2- Clean fill sand and or gravel fill, free of vegetation and foreign material, must be placed to
design sub grade level and compacted to assure uniform support of the floor slab.
3- Sub grade compaction shall be achieved by means and methods determined by the responsible
contractor. Soil density testing by independent soil testing firms shall be required to insure
prescribed soil densities are achieved.
4- After footing excavation, and forming, contractor shall re -compact sub grade soils using suitable
vibratory mechanical compactor. The upper 16 inches of soils under laying the wall footings
should have a minimum density of 95% of the maximum dry unit density as determined by
modified proctor method for the existing soils. In place soil density test should be performed in
accordance with ASTM D-2922, at a frequency determined by the soil technician to verify
uniformity of the under laying soil density, prior to placing concrete.
5- Sub -base compaction for the floor slab fill material shall be uniformly compacted to a minimum
density equal to 95% of the maximum dry unit density of the fill as determined by modified
proctor method in accordance with ASTM D-1557
6- Concrete slabs on grade shall be placed over a polyethylene vapor barrier with a minimum
thickness of 6 mills, installed with lapped joints not less than 6 inches and continuously tapped
with high density polyethylene adhesive tape.
