The following wind uplift limitations apply to underlayment systems that are not addressed in FRSA/TRI April 2012 (04-12) and are used in foam -on tile applications. Maximum Design Pressure is the result of testing for wind load resistance based on allowable wind loads, and reflects the ultimate passing pressure divided by 2 (the 2 to 1 margin of safety per FBC 1504.9 has already been applied). Refer to FRSA/TRI April 2012 (04- 12), Appendix A, Table 1A or FBC 1609 for determination of design wind loads. #1 Maximum Design Pressure= -52.5 psf: Deck: Min. 15/32-inch plywood to meet project requirements to satisfaction of Authority Having Jurisdiction. Weather-Armore FT3 Tile Underlayment or Weather -Armor* HT3 High Temp Premium Roof Underlayment shall not be left exposed for longer than 180-days after installation. 5.8 Tile Slippage Limitations (per FRSA/TRI April 2012 (04-12)1: When loading roof tiles on the underlayment in direct -deck the assemblies, the maximum roof slope shall be as follows. These slope limitations can only be exceeded by using battens during loading of the roof tiles. Gardner" Roof Underlayments shall be installed in accordance with Gardner° Asphalt Corp. published installation requirements subject to the Limitations set forth in Section 5 herein and the specifics noted below. Re -fasten any loose decking panels, and check for protruding nail heads. Sweep the substrate thoroughly to remove any dust and debris prior to application, and prime the substrate (if applicable). Gardner® Gard -Lock, Weather -Armor• FT3 Tile Underlayment, Weather -Armor® HT' High Temp Premium Roof Underlayment or Weather-Armor*SB-1 Self -Bond° Roof Underlayment: 6.3.1 Non -Tile Applications: Shall be installed in compliance with the requirements for ASTM D1970 underlayment in FBC Table 1S07.1.1 for the type of prepared roof covering to be installed, and Gardner Asphalt Corp. published requirements. 6.3.2 Nail -On Tile Applications (Weather -Armor® Fri Tile Underlayment only): Reference is made to FRSA/TRI April 2012 (04-12) Installation Manual for Self -Adhered Membrane, and Gardner Asphalt Corp. published requirements. For mechanically fastened tile roofing over a 2-ply system, consisting of Base Sheet and Self -Adhered Membrane, fastening of the ASTM D226, Type 11 or Weather -Armors CrossOver CX-L Premium Hybrid Roof Underlayment base sheet shall be in accordance with Gardner Asphalt Corp. requirements, but not less than that the densities set forth in FRSA/TRI April 2012 (04-12), Table 1. Note: If using Weather -Armor® CrossOver CX-L Premium Hybrid Roof Underlayment in this application, it shall be installed with a 5-inch wide side lap. An optional mid -ply of Weather -Armor® HT3 High Temp Premium Roof Underlayment may be installed between the mechanically fastened ASTM D226, Type 11 or Weather -Armor® Crossover CX-L Premium Hybrid Roof Underlayment base sheet and the Weather -Armor® FT3 Tile Underlayment in these applications. Refer to Section 5.8 for tile staging limitations. 6.3.3 Foam -On Tile Apolications (Weather -Armor® FT3 Tile Underlayment only): Reference is made to FRSA/TRI April 2012 (04-12) Installation Manual for Self -Adhered Membrane, and Gardner Asphalt Corp. published requirements. Refer to Table 1A for allowable tile adhesives. Refer to Section 5.6.1 for wind uplift limitations. Refer to Section 5.8 for tile staging limitations. 6.4 ( Gator-Skin" Synthetic Roof 10" Synthetic Roof Underlayment: 6.4.1 Shall be installed in compliance with the requirements for ASTM D226, Type I or 11 underlayment in FBC Table 1507.1.1 for the type of prepared roof covering to be installed, taking into account the wider sheet -width for double -layer applications, and Gardner Asphalt Corp. published requirements. 6.4.2 Non -Tile Applications 0 slopes 4:12 (18.41 or greater: ➢ Run horizontally starting at the bottom edge of the roof with printed side up. ➢ Code Reference: The Exception statement in FBC 1507.1.1 and FBC R905.1.1 requires use of metal cap nails where the ultimate design wind speed, Vun, equals or exceeds 150 mph. ➢ Do not use staples; always use corrosive resistant nails and nail at 90 degrees to the roof deck. Do not leave any gaps. Nails should be snug and hammered flush to the deck. ➢ For same day coverage with primary roofing materials, fasten underlayment a minimum of every other location using min. 1-inch plastic cap nails or min. 1-inch leg roofing nails with min. 3/8-inch head. ➢ If left exposed after the initial day of installation, fasteners must be installed in every location and min. 1-inch metal cap (smooth or ring shank) or min. 1-inch plastic cap roofing nails must be used in all locations, as printed on the underlayment. Contact Gardner Asphalt Corp. for recommendations as to when and what to use. ➢ Carefully set roll in place at the edge of the roof and unroll 2 to 3 ft. ➢ Align the underlayment to the edge of the rake and eaves, but not over the sides of the building. ➢ Extend over metal at eaves and under metal at rakes. ➢ When the properly positioned and straight, install two (2) nails at least 6-inch apart along top edge to hold the underlayment in place. ➢ Next, roll out approximately one-half way across the roof, or about 20 to 25 ft. In windy conditions, work with approximately one half of this distance. D Pick up the roll and pull until tight. Line up the edge of the roll with the eaves and eliminate any wrinkles or buckles. ➢ Standing above the underlayment, install the top row of fasteners. Do not use staples. ✓ Fasten underlayment minimum of 24-inch o.c. at the center of the roll and at both side laps. This is achieved by fastening at every target symbol (+) printed on the underlayment. ➢ If underlayment is left exposed more than five (5) days, or under windy conditions, 1-inch ring shank plastic caps or ring -shank nails with tin caps shall be used and the fastening density shall increase. ✓ Fasten both outside laps max.12-inch o.c. and the center of the roll max.18-inch o.c. Nails should be snug and hammered flush to the deck with no spaces or gaps. ➢ Where seams or joints require sealant, use APOC, Black Jack or Gardner approved sealants or tapes.
