Hwy Al A' Permit No. 0 We have determined, based on worst —case conditions, the minimum number of concrete screw anchors required to withstand theshear, force applied to the wood buck for all windows and doors for the above referenced project. The force has been determined for each side of each window/door based on ASCE 7-10 with 170 MPH Vult, EXPOSURE D ENCLOSED, 30' MEAN HEIGHT, 5:12 PITCH, with Kd=0.85 using the ALLOWABLE STRESS DESIGN method. These values are representative of the minimum tributary area (10-sgft); the actual wind pressure for any component larger the 10-sgft would be less. t The shear tolerance for the anchors is based on 1/4"x3" TapCons (or equal) with a minimum one - inch (1 ") embedment into medium weight hollow block with a factor of safety of 4:1 (25% ultimate load values). Further load reductions have applied for less than nominal spacing and edge distance, in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. I do hereby certify that: • The fasteners used for the installation of all windows and doors for the above referenced project meet or exceed our requirements (as described above). • The number of fasteners used to secure all exterior windows and doors for the above referenced project meets or exceeds our calculated requirement for the buck attachment. • The attachment of the wood buck to the masonry via concrete screw anchor through the associated window frame, and into the masonry, in conjunction with our preceding certifications, is in accordance with FBC 2017 requirements: The following pages contain an accounting of all installed windows and doors, with the calculated wind force and fastener requirements. Noted on each is the actual number of fasteners installed. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. -06 David S. Knight, P.E. FL Reg. Per discussions with building officials, it has been determined that the proposed home does not lie in a Coastal A Zone, and is thus not required to meet the design standards as outlined in section R322.3 of the FBC. 33)'ENGINEER TO CLARIFY- THE TRUSSES ARE DESIGNED FOR AN ENCLOSEDBUILDING. THE BUILDING COULD POTENTIALLY BE OPENED IN A WIND/FLOOD EVENT WHEN GROUND LEVEL WALLS BREAKAWAYCREATING AN OPEN/PARTIALLY ENCLOSED BUILDING. CLARIFICATION. The house has been designed as an enclosed building, in accordance with Florida Building Code. The collapse of frangible elements of the building shall not have a noticeable impact the function of the roof system. ZONING COMMENTS 31712019 Comment: ELEVATION PAGE REQUIRED TO INDICATE THE LOBBYAREA AT 14.1'. The FBC allows for enclosed spaces below the base flood elevation, if those areas are designed in accordance with the ASCE 24 and (for structures east of the Coastal Control Line) FBC 3109 and FBC R322. The enclosed areas below the base flood elevation are intended to be used solely for vehicle parking (garage), storage, and building access (lobby). All of these enclosed areas shall have flood vents, in accordance with the ASCE and FBC. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. We appreciate your considerations and your timely review of our resubmittal. Sincerely, -16 David S. Knight, P.E.
