2017 FBC/ASCE-7 DESIGN PRESSURE CALCULATIONS BY
St. Lucie County
Proiect Information:
Height = 12' Exposure: D Basic/Ultimate Wind Speed: V"e=170 mph
Length = 16' Category: H Nominal Wind Speed: V.d=V it*40.6
Width = 10' Slope: < 7° (asd = allowable strength design)
Parapet Wall: N/A Residential Kz = 1.03, Kzt = 1.0, Kd = 0.85
Design Calculations:
Velocity Pressure: q = 0.00256*KXztKdV2
Velocity Pressure (u): q=0.00256(1.03)(1.0)(0.85)(170)2 = 64.77 psf
Velocity Pressure (.d): q=0.00256(1.03)(1.0)(0.85)(170*40.6)2 = 38.86 psf
Width of Pressure Coefficient: 0.1(10') = 1.0'
0.4(12') = 4.8' ) use: 3'0"
Effective Wind Area: <10ft2
For parapet height three feet (3') or larger, zone three (3) shall be treated as zone two (2).
External Pressure Coefficient:
1) GCP1 = -1.0
2) GCP2 = -1.8
3) GCP3 = -2.8

Based on the requirements of Florida Product Approval # FL1046-R8, Appendix 1, pg 6
of 22, System No. W-11, with a maximum design pressure of-52.5psf; the following are
our recommended fastening patterns to attach the proposed two plies of PermaPly 28 or
Ventsulation base sheet to the min. 19/32" plywood deck utilizing approved 32 ga., 1-
5/8" diameter tin caps with 11 ga. annular ring shank nails:
Field: 9" o.c. @ 4" laps and 2 staggered rows 12" o.c.
Perimeter: 9" o.c. @ 4" laps and 3 staggered rows 9" o.c.
Corners: 9" o.c. @ 4" laps and 5 staggered rows 9" o.c.
*Note: If any portion of the anchor/base sheet falls within the perimeter or corner
zones, then the entire sheet has to be fastened to the requirements of that zone.
Notes: Corners and perimeter area dimension shall not be less than a = 3'0"
Contractor to verify that the fastening patterns meet manufacturer's
requirements for issuance of a warranty (as applicable).
