At your request on January 30, 2019, we performed a structural evaluation ofthe blockingoftwo windaw openings at
the above site location. Jose F. Vazquez, P.E. performed the inspection and did the evaluation letter.
Site Conditions:
One-story residence approximately 1,627 sf, 61 years old (approx.); exterior concrete masonry; perimeter concrete
footers; perimeter foundation block walls; floor,joist/girder system; wood flame walls androofrafters. Normal residential
design loads are for this area Topographies are relatively flat.
Engineer's Evaluation
Based on a visual inspection and construction practices, we have inspected the issues listed below only and the following
are the findings:
1. Two exterior windows of the building were removed, and the openings blocked up with 8" concrete masonry
units. The opening at the rear has an approximately 16"x24" opening. The masonry units have been tightly
mortared and secured within the opening.
Conclusion
Based on standard engineering and construction practices in our local area The undersigned Professional Engineer
certifies that the block uP ofthe window apenings are structurally sound and meet the intent ofthe Code.
This letter represents our opinion of the structural conditions based on the visible conditions and the information available
at the time of our visit to the property. Ibis evaluation was very limited in scope, focusing only on the structural system
of the items mentioned above. No other components or systems of the structure a were evaluated. Some surface materials
were removed to confirm integrity ofthe components, no exploratory excavation was undertaken, and no physical testing
or sampling was done. This letter of certification is being provided only for information purpose. Detailed plans and
specifications have not been prepared for any contractors to follow only this letter. This letter should not be considered
as a guarantee of condition. No warranty with regard to the future performance of any modifications that may be made
is intended, implied, or expressed We have no control over the repair contractor whom is responsible for the repairs
recommended This report is only good for one year (from the date of this report), due to the fact conditions can change
and we have no control over those changing conditions. Our maximum liability for loss suffered by the client due to
any cause is limited to our inspection fee.
This letter has been prepared for your benefit in strict confidence with you as our client. We will not release this letter to
anyone without your permission. Copies may be distributed at your discretion only to satisfy your needs regarding this
situation. We encourage you to call with any questions you may have. Thank you for the opportunity to be of service to
you.
