File & Drawing No: 95-3009-01-01 Sheet . 1 of-_-2,-- �COPr'RIGHT (t, 1995, BY G.C.Y., INC., CIVIL ENGINEERS / LAND SURVEYORS Alin 0 A 10M 0 z 0 o 0 0 SPECIFICATIONS GENERAL It is intended that the Florida Department of Transportation "Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction", latest edition be used where applicable for various work, and that where such wording therein refers to the State of Florida and its Department of Transportation and personnel, such wording is intended to be replaced with that wording which would provide proper terminology, thereby making such "Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction" as the "Standard Specifications" for this project. If within that particular section another section, article or paragraph is referred to, it shall be. a part of the "Standard Specifications" also. All work shall be in a workmanlike manner and shall conform with all applicable city, county, state and federal regulations and/or codes. The contractor shall also be responsible for obtaining all permits and licenses required to begin work. The contractor shall give the engineer 24 hours notice prior to requesting required inspections and shall supply all equipment necessary to properly test and inspect the completed work. The contractor shall guarantee all work and materials for a period of one year from the date of project acceptance, during which all faulty construction and/or materials shall be corrected at the contractor's expense. CLEARING AND GRUBBING: All trees, brush, stumps, roots, grass, weeds, rubbish and all other obstructions resting on or lying within 12" below finished grade or subgrode shall be completely removed within the limits of the proposed construction. All work shall be in accordance with Section 110 of the Standard Specifications. Top soil to be removed and stockpiled on site for use as final cover. EXCAVATION: The contractor shall perform all excavation necessary to accomplish the construction indicated on the plans. Excavation shall be unclassified regardless of material encountered. All excavated material not required for fill or embankment, shall be deposited on the site, as directed by the owner, or his representative. The contractor shall do all shoring necessary to perform and protect the excavation, and as necessary for the safety of the workers, and any existing facilities. All construction dewatering (well points, sumps, etc:-1-fi nc q h-q p-ermit from S.F.W.M.D. This shall be obtained by the contractor at the contractor's expense. UNSUITABLE MATERIAL: Where muck, rock, clay or other material within the limits of construction is, in the opinion of the engineer, unsuitable in its original position, the contractor shall excavate such material, and bockfill the excavated area with suitable material, which sholl be compacted and shaped to conform to the required section. EMBANKMENT: A. This work shall consist of furnishing and plar_ing the materials required for fill or embankment for the construction os shown on the drawings. The material used for embankment shall consist of sand, gravel, or a mixture thereof, and/or other suitable material approved by the engineer. If the materials ore of a variable quality, the contractor shall plan his operations so that the upper two feet of the embankment is constructed of selected materials as approved and directed by the engineer. B. All fill placed beneath and within 5 feet of the proposed drainfield construction to be clean sand fill. The material used shall be approved by the engineer prior to phicement. Use of materials obtained from on site excavation may be utilized with prior approval of the engineer. C. Prior to placing any embankment, the surface to receive the embankment, shall be plowed or scarified, Fill or embankment shall be placed in successive uniform layers twelve inches (12"), measured loose, or as approved by the engineer. Each layer will then be compacted by on approved method. GRADING: Contractor shall perform all necessary grading to achieve the finished grading as per plan. All workmanship shall be in accordance with these specifications. STABILIZED PARKING AREA: Stabilized parking area shall be constructed to 50 psi Florida Bearing Value in accordance with section 160 of the Standard Specifications. (Type C Stabilizations). All stabilized areas shall be compacted to at least 98% of the maximum density as determined by AASHTO T- 180. CONCRETE: Unless otherwise specified or Indicated, all concrete shall have a minimum compressive strength at 28 days of 3000 PSI. All work shall comply with the current edition of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) building code and applicable building codes having jurisdiction in the area. CULVERT PIPES: Reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) shall be in accordance with Section 941 of the "Standard Specifications". Corrugated Polyethylene Pipe (CPEP) shall be in accordance with Section 947 of the "Standard Specifications". Polyvinyl -Chloride Pipe (PVC) shall be in accordance with Section 947 of the "Standard Specifications". Bituminous coated corrugated steel pipe (BCCSP) shall be in accordance with Section 943 of the "Standard Specifications". Corrugated aluminum pipe (CAP) shall be in accordance with Section 945 of the "Standard Specifications". DISTURBED AREAS: All areas disturbed by construction shall be seeded and mulched or sodded as specified below: All side slope areas from top of bank to toe of slope as well as the side slopes of the retention swale and the top and side slopes of the perimeter berm to be sodded. All other areas including the top of the drainfield area and the bottom of the retention swale as well as all areas disturbed during construction to be either sodded or seeded and mulched. Sodding: The Contractor shall, after final grading and cleanup, establish a stand of grass by furnishing and placing sod in accordance with Section 575 of the Standard Specifications, The Contractor shall water the sodded area to maintain moisture levels for optimum growth to assure a healthy stand of grass. Sod shall be Bahia grass sod unless otherwise specified. Seeding and Mulching: Unless otherwise noted, the Contractor shall, after final grading and cleanup of all disturbed areas, establish a stand of grass by seeding and mulching in accordance with Section 570 of the Standard Specifications. The Contractor shall water the seeded area to maintain moisture levels for optimum growth for at least 2 weeks or until the grass is established. ELEVATIONS: Elevations shown are based on an assumed datum. DOSING PUMPS: Dual dosing pumps to be provided. Pumps to operate on an alternating basis with each pump serving one drainfield. Shop drawings and pump information to be submitted to the engineer for approval prior to installation. Pump operating conditions: 35 GPM at 10 Ft. TDH Pump Manufacturer: Barnes, Model No. EH522L (or equal) 1/2 HP, 3 1/2" Impeller, 3450 RPM, 230 V, Single Phase DOSING TANK Dosing tank to consist of precast reinforced concrete manhole sections (6' inside diameter) and shall be constructed in general accordance with Section 425 of the "Standard Specifications" of the Florida Dept. of Transportation. Manhole construction shall use Type II Portland Cement and shall have a minimum compressive strength at 28 days of 4000 psi. Manhole to have a precast monolithic poured base. Tongue and groove wall section joints shall be sealed water tight with preformed plastic sealing compound (Ram-Nek or equal) and shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. SEPTIC TANK: Reinforced concrete septic tanks to be constructed and installed in accordance with Chapter 10D-6, F.A.C. DRAINFIELDS: Drainfield construction to be in accordance with Chapter 1OD-6, F.A.C.
