To Whom it may concern,
The construction drawings for the above noted projects specifies the use of a fabricated joist
hanger to support the Parallam beam at the edge of the second floor overhang (see Typical End
Wall Section and Typical End Wall Bracket Detail). However, during the restoration process, the
contractor requested the use of a pre -manufactured joist hanger. Based on review of the design
documents and applicable loads at the location in question, it was determined that the use of joist
hanger HUC412 (manufactured by Simpson -Strong Tie Company, Inc.) is an acceptable
alternate. The hanger is to be secured to the concrete wall with (16) - 3/16" dia. Tapcons x 1 Y2."
long and to the wood beam with (6) 1 Od galvanized nails.
The undersigned Consultant Certifies that the above request is acceptable and meets the intent of
the original design and the Florida Building Code 2004 provided the installation is in accordance
with the above instructions and hanger manufacturer's recommendations.
The undersigned Consultant makes no warranty either expressed or implied, as to his findings,
recommendations, specifications or professional advice except that these were developed to the
best of his professional ability in accordance with generally accepted engineering practices.
