Bench Marks and Monuments Maintain carefully existing bench marks, monuments, and other- reference points; if disturbed or destroyed, replace as directed at the original location and verify location. Cost of replacement. and verification shall be borne by the contractor. CLEARING Remove existing vegetation and roots from construction area only; di=.pose of this material off site. Do not burry. Area, of site shown on plans easterly of the Coastal Construction Setback Line is off limits to personnel, and construction activities. Contractor shall renew at his expense to original condition any disturbance of trees or other - vegetation within this area. The General Contractor shall be responsible for all subcontractors in this. matter. Fngingerin_g Btnwert. Site borings and foundation recommendations, prefor- med by Henricksen Engineering, dated May 4, 1985 are available at the office of the Architect. QDIgntte Formwork Adequate and safe design of formwork is the responsibility of the Contractor-. Install sleeves, inserts, anchors and other Devices required for fastening of other work. Forms for footings shall remain in place for seven (7) days. Formwork shall be 30" diameter "Zonatubes" placed level ,and plumb. Adequately brace forms to prevent movement during placement of concrete. Concretg Reinforcement Deformed bars shall meet ASTM A-615 grade 60. Bending shall be done without heating and reinforce- ment securely tied in position in forms having not _. less than :3"coverage+ in footings. Provide ovn I ; p•_-- of 30 diameters at all. splices. Concrete Portland Cement: American Standard Brand as per ASTM C-159, Type 1; waterproof; 3000 psi at 28 days, add one bag of portl and cement per cubic yard. Contractor shall submit design mix to Engineer for written approval prior to pile cap installation. Fine Aggregate Shall be sharp, clean pass,inq a #8 sieve_ netting ASTM C:-33. Coarse Aggregate ASTM C-33 gravel or crushed stone. Size graded from i 1/2" down. Size for column and beam pours shall be 1/2" and down. MAE Shall be potable quality. P1 ommertt Mechanical vibrator shalt( be employed to work concrete around reinforcing steel, embedments and corners. Testing 11) Slump & cylinder tests shall be made of all structural concrete in footings. (2) Te; st VIvocedure: (a) Standard 6 inch x 12 inch cylinders made of concrete for foundations per ASTM C:143. Take from the same batch for each 15 cubic yards or fraction thereof. All piling shall be 16",at 14".diameter, cast in place, augured piles, 30 ton capacity. 2. Piling shall be installed by an experienced piling contractor. Prior to commencing work, contractor shall submit to architect the following: . 2.1 Drilling equipment to be used. 2.2 Installation procedure. 2.3 Concrete design mix. 3. Piling shall be installed within an accuracy of 2" of design, location. 4. Concrete for piling shall be 4,000 psi at 28 days. 5. Reinforceng steel shall'be deformed bars, conforming to ASTM-615, grade 60. Installation: 1. All piling shall be installed to the depths shown or called for on the construction documents and in accordance with. Standards Building Code, Section 1307.2. 2. The auger shall be used to retain the shape of the hole and and shall be withdrawn carefully during concreting to prevent adjacent soil from collapsing. 3. Contractor shall document pile locations, date of installation and length of each pile. Testing: 1. Provide four standat-d cylindurn fir each Len (10) cubic yards of concrete placement. Break one cylinders at 7, 14, and 28 days, Retain one for future use. Inspections: 1. Piling installation shall be supervised by a registered Professional Engineer as requi rad by Standard Buildinq Crude„ Section 1304.5.2.
