HomeMy WebLinkAboutLETTER FROM OWNERDECEMBER 21,2005 SGANNEDD MR. DENNIS GRIM, I APPLIED FOR A PERMIT ON SEPTEMBER 9,2005, TO PUT A CONCRETE SLAB OVER THE UTILITY EASEMENT ON THE SEAWALL. AFTER WAITING FOR OVER 5 WEEKS, I RECEIVED A CALL ON MY TELEPHONE RECORDER TO COME AND GET MY PERMIT. WHEN I GOT TO SEE THE LADY ABOUT MY PERMIT, SHE ASKED ME WHO HAD TELEPHONED AND I TOLD HER IT WAS ON MY RECORDER AND I DID NOT KNOW WHO IT WAS THAT CALLED. SHE SAID MY PERMIT WAS NOT DONE AND THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND MY PERMIT. A FEW DAYS LATER SOMEONE ELSE CALLED AND SAID, COME AND GET YOUR PERMIT. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT IF I EVER WANT TO GET A PERMIT AGAIN, TO CALL EVERY 10 DAYS TO CHECK ON THE STATUS OF THE PERMIT. SO, ON THE NINTH OF DECEMBER I APPLIED FOR ANOTHER PERMIT TO PUT A CONCRETE SLAB ON THE SIDE OF MY HOUSE. I CALLED TEN DAYS LATER AND SPOKE WITH LATASHA AND SHE STATED THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG AS MY PERMIT NUMBER WAS NOT IN THE COMPUTER. SHE SAID SHE WOULD CHECK ON THIS AND CALL ME BACK. I WAITED TWO HOURS AND CALLED LATASHA BACK AT WHICH TIME SHE INFORMED ME THAT FRANK WAS HELPING HER FIND MY PERMIT. SHE SAID SHE WOULD CALL BACK. NO a. ONE CALLED BACK. SO, THE NEXT DAY MY WIFE AND I WENT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR PERMIT. WE MET WITH MICHELLE AND SHE SAID THAT OUR PERMIT HAD BEEN SITTING ON SOMEONE'S DESK WHO WAS OFF WORK. WHEN SHE LOOKED OVER THE PERMIT, SHE SEEMED AS IF SHE WAS TRYING -TO -FIND SOMETHING WRONG. SHE SAID, " DON'T YOU THINK THIS IS A LOT OF CONCRETE?" THEN MICHELLE SAID THAT WE SHOULD GET AN APPROVAL LETTER FROM OUR CONDO OFFICE. MY WIFE SAID TO MICHELLE THAT WE ALREADY HAD A LETTER FOR THE PERMIT THAT WE GOT FOR PUTTING THE CONCRETE IN THE UTILITY AREA. MICHELLE TOLD MY WIFE AND I THAT SHE BELIEVED EACH PERMIT HAD TO HAVE A LETTER FROM THE CONDO ACCORDING TO PAULA BUSHBY. WE ASKED TO SPEAK WITH PAULA BUSHBY AND SHE TOLD US THE SAME THING. WHEN MY WIFE AND I GOT BACK TO NETTLES ISLAND, WE DROVE AROUND AND FOUND OTHER PROPERTIES WITH CONCRETE IN THE SAME PLACE WHERE WE HAD TRIED TO GET A PERMIT TO CONCRETE. WE ASKED THESE PEOPLE IF THEY NEEDED A LETTER OF APPROVAL FROM THE CONDO ASSOCIATION TO PUT IN WITH THEIR PERMIT APPLICATION. EVERYONE SAID "NO". ONE OWNER TOLD MY WIFE AND I THAT HE DID NOT BELIEVE THE COUNTY NEEDED PERMISSION FROM PAT MILLER OR THE CONDO ASSOCIATION TO GIVE OUT PERMITS. IS THIS INFORMATION CORRECT, IN ORDER TO GET A PERMIT ON NETTLES ISLAND? 3. MR. GRIM, MY WIFE AND I FEEL WE WERE POSSIBLY SPOILED BY JOE CICIO AND GARY SCHIEGNER WHEN WE APPLIED FOR OUR HOUSE PERMIT IN 2001. WE NOT -ONLY RECEIVED -OUR -PERMIT -IN -THREE DAYS-TO-BUIL-D-OUR-HOME- BUT WE ALSO NOTED THAT GARY WAS ALWAYS ON TIME OR EARLY ON ALL HIS INSPECTIONS. SO, WHEN WE WERE FINISHED BUILDING OUR HOME IN FEBRUARY 2002, WE SAT DOWN AND WROTE A LETTER ABOUT HOW GOOD OUR TREATMENT WAS AND HOW MUCH WE APPRECIATED THOSE TWO MEN. OBVIOUSLY WE NOW FEEL THAT WE HAVE APPARENTLY DONE SOMETHING WRONG TO BE TREATED THIS WAY WHEN TRYING TO GET TWO PERMITS FOR CONCRETE SLABS AND HAVING ALL THIS TROUBLE AND DELAY, WHEREAS, THE PERMIT FOR OUR WHOLE HOUSE TOOK THREE DAYS. IF YOU WILL, PLEASE LET US KNOW HOW WE CAN CHANGE THIS SITUATION, AND WE WOULD BE VERY APPRECIATIVE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.
