Note: Manuf sctured houses can be ordered with the anchor straps mounted to the inside of the rim joist. This small detail can eliminate a majority of modificatio is needed to the top rail during installation. Required Tools - you will not need any additional tools. The standard skirting Installation tools needed are: Hammer, Screwdriver, Snips, Plumb Bob or Level, Tape. Measure, Power Saw with Fine -Tooth Blade, Notching Tool, Chalk Line, Utility Knife. Additional Ports needed: 2 additional materla s are needed beyond the traditional installation. First, a top back rail mounting plate of either a metal stud (Style Cast part number 293121593) or a treated 20 wooden stud in sufficient quantity to a icompass the perimeter of the home. Style Crest encourages the use of metal studs due to the tendency of wood to a arp. Second, a st fficient quantity of the appropriate screws to attach the mounting plate to the rim joist of the home around the complete perimeter. Style Crest recommends 1-112" x q8 hex head screws (Style Crest part number 65815100 or 6581620) for use with metal studs. For use wth wooden studs, Style Crest recommends use of a wood screw compat- ible with treated wood and of sufficient lengti, to penetrate the wooden stud at an angle and continue at least 1-112" Into the rim joist for secure attachment (see diagrams) Important: T iese instructions are a supplem eat to Style Crest's standard ski ting Installation instructions. Please refer :o our standard instructions as tequired. Step 1: Installing the Top Back Rail Mounting Plate to the home: Starting from a comer of the home, Inspect ilia rim joist for any obstacles to installing the back mount- ing plate. Attach mounting plates immediately behind the sid- ing with the appropriate fasteners at least every 16" around the cDmplete perimeter. Repeat this operation until top rail has been r laced around the perimeter of the home. (See diagram) Step 2: Installing the skirting Top Back Rail to the mounting plate: Install the skirting Top Back Rail to the mounting plate using the appropriate fasteners (self -tapping sheet metal screws for metal studs, W wood screws compatible with treated wood for wood plates) in the center of the mourning slots provided in the Top Back Rail. The top of the Top Back Rail should be imme- diately below the bottom of the home siding. (See diagram) Important: Be certain not to over -tighten these fasten- ers, which would prohibit the necessary movement of the Top Back Rail due to temperature changes. (See diagram) Step 3 Installation of bottom rail: Fallow standard skirling installation procedures. (See diagram) Step 4 Panel Installation: Panels should be cut and installed following standard procedures. (See diagram) Step 5 Installation of top front trim: The top front him installs easily by snapping the top edge of its spring lock into the top trim back rail. The spring lock of the back mil is hidden under the siding "over -hang" (Sea diagram) roroersi — —Siding —Top Back Trim etal Stud — Side Pmfile — Floor Joist— —Siding -Siding Overlap °'" Metal _A _Top Back Trim Stud Floor Joist— Siding um Top Back Trim Metal Stud--- Bottom Channel Floor Joist — Side Profile- -Sitling =Sitling Overlap Metal Stud—.o ... _Top Back Trim Sidrgng Panels —Bottom Channel I Floor Joist— —Siding —Top Back Trim —Skirting Panels Metal Stud — Side Profile Floor Joist— —Siding —Top Front Trim —Skirting Panels Metal Stud — Side Profile --.
