THE SITE MUST BE GRADED TO PROVIDE FOR STORM RUN-OFF. SPECIAL CARE MUST BE TAKEN WITH THE AREA DIRECTLY BELOW YOUR HOME TO PREVENT WATER FROM PONDING AND/OR PUDDLING UNDER YOUR HOME AND SUPPORTS. IF THE SPACE UNDER THE HOME IS TO BE ENCLOSED WITH SKIRTING OR OTHER MATERIALS, A VAPOR RETARDER (I.E. POLY...) MUST BE INSTALLED TO COVER THE GROUND UNDER THE HOME (SHALL BE 6 MIL. AND ALL SEAMS TO OVERLAP 12" MIN.) REPAIR ANY TEARS OR VOIDS IN THE RETARDER BY PATCHING WITH LIKE MATERIAL, MAINTAINING A MINIMUM 12" OVERLAP AND SEALING JOINTS WITH DUCT TAPE OR MASTIC. THE VENT MUST NOT TERMINATE INSIDE THE SKIRTED AREA UNDER THE HOME, THIS WOULD RESULT IN EXCESSIVE HUMIDITY IN THE HOME. HOMES WITH A DOWN DRAFT RANGE ARE EQUIPED WITH EXHAUST DUCT INSTALLED FROM THE RANGE THROUGH THE FLOOR, THE REMAINING DUCT IS SENT WITH THE HOME AND MUST( -BE INSTALLED ON SITE. --1- LOCATE -DUCT DROP- FROM RANGE. —(MAY BE EXTENDING THROUGH BOTTOM BOARD, OR SEALED INSIDE) 2. CHECK DUCT PROVIDED FOR PROPER LENGTH, AND OBSTRUCTIONS. THEN CONNECT TO DUCT DROP FROM RANGE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. 3. SECURE THE VENT CAP TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE SKIRTING AT THE APPROPRIATE LOCATION. 4. SECURE THE END OF THE DOWN DRAFT RANGE DUCT TO THE VENT CAP AT THE EXTERIOR OF THE HOME WITH CLAMPS OR SCREWS. NOTE: DO NOT USE ANY FASTENERS THAT CRUSH OR BLOCK THE DUCT. - 5. STRAP THE DUCT TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOME TO PREVENT THE DUCT FROM BENDING OR COMING IN CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. 6. SEAL THE OPENINGS AROUND THE DUCT WHERE IT PASSES THROUGH THE FLOOR WITH CAULK OR DUCT TAPE, AND THE BOTTOM BOARD WITH DUCT TAPE. Page SU-01-0008 in the Jacobsen Homes' HUD Set -Up Manual was based on the 2004 FBC-R Code that was in effect when this detail was submitted for approval and included in the Set -Up Manual. The 2004 FBC wind speed was based on wind speed=Vasd (mph). Since that time Florida has adopted the 2010 FBC which is based on wind speed= Vult (mph). The loads that are derived from Vult utilize a factor of 0.6 whereas those based on Vasd do not utilize a reduction factor.
