I understand the wind speed may be interpreted.as Vult = 161 MPH, based on St. Lucie County wind speed maps. The wind speed used in the design was Vult =160 MPH. The difference between the two wind speeds is negligible and the Wayne Dalton doors referenced in my letter dated March 17, 2014 are adequate for Vult = 161 MPH. The garage building structure is reinforced CMU walls with wood roof trusses. The garage door openings are 7'-0" high and less than 9'-0" wide. Garage Door: Wayne Dalton Model 8700, Code Option #1002 Florida Product Approval, FL 12099.3 Design Parameters: Wind Speed: ASCE 7-10, Risk Cat.[], Veit= 160 mph (3 sec.), Vasd= 124 mph, Exp. Cat. D,Direc tionality Factor Kd=0.85, Mean Roof Height: 15 feet, Kh=1.03, Edge Zone Width = 5.6 feet Garage Door Design Pressures, P4/P5= +36.5/- 45.8 psf, based on 50 sf trib area, (Note these pressures are ASD) The installation of the door system including track, clips and attachment to wood bucks and building substrate shall be in strict accordance with the reference Florida Product Approval. Hope, Ohio 44660 4/3/2014 RE: Wayne -Dalton Model 8700 Windload Option Code 1002 and Low Head Room Track Wayne -Dalton Quote 1795349, 'Hibiscus Condominium Building #1' To Whom It May Concern: This letter concerns the Florida Building Code (FBC) Windload Approvals that Wayne -Dalton, A Division of Overhead Door Corporation, has for the Model 8700 residential garage door (FL-12099). The FBC Approvals for Wayne -Dalton residential garage doors can be viewed at: www.floridabuilding.oro. The Model 8700 is approved per FL-12099. The garage door sections are made with PVC exterior substrates and interior substrates with polyurethane foamed -in -place insulation, for a unitized body construction and superior corrosion resistance. The Wayne -Dalton FBC approval (FL-12099) for our Model 8700 door includes 'Standard Lift' garage door track. This windload certification does not list'Low Head Room' track since the 8700 windload door testing was not conducted with 'Low Head Room' track. Low Head Room track is a standard option for the 8700 door, and is listed with several other Wayne -Dalton Models per FBC approvals FL-8248, FL-9166, and FL-9174, including Wayne -Dalton Models 8000, 8024, and 9100. The Model 8700 door uses the same construction of Low Head Room track as these other Wayne -Dalton Models, and it is my judgment that Model 8700 Windload Doors per Option Code 1002 will meet the same windload performance with Low Head Room track, as it does with Standard Lift track, to withstand Design Pressures of+41.0 /-46.3, per Wayne -Dalton Quote 1795349.
