El Mar Dr., Jensen Beach, FL January 7, 2015 SCANNED By St. Luce County Fort Pierce Engineering (FPE) was requested to review the effect of replacing the current mechanical room doors which contain jalousie window / vents with new solid doors for the subject property. FPE performed a site on May 15, 2014 to review the existing conditions. The mechanical rooms contain the condensing units for the residences in each building. The rooms each currently contain a large exhaust fan that is design to draw air through a large opening at the rear of each room, and then up through the condenser coils to discharge from the mechanical room fan at the roof. Airflow to each room is primarily provided by the opening at the rear of each room, which is not being altered. Peterson, Building Supervisor / Building Official 2300 Virginia Avenue Fort Pierce, Florida 34982 Re: Beach Club Colony 200 N. El Mar Drive, Jensen Beach, FL 34957 Dear Mr. Peterson: SCANNED BY St. Lucie Countv Our office has reviewed the Laundry and A/C Door replacement for this building. These room are no -habitable rooms. We have determined the following: 1. The Laundry door is centered in east exterior wall of the building on the first floor. 2. The A/C door is centered in east exterior wall of the building on the second floor. 3. Both doors are 3'-0" wide x 6'-8" high with jalousie windows. 4. We have checked the wind pressures for these doors and each door has a wind pressure requirement of +71.8 psf and -78.1 psf. (see attached) 5. We have reviewed the Therma Trot Doors, Smooth Star approval under FL- 10537.1 Rl, dated February 27, 2012. These doors are impact resistant and exceed the wind pressures required. We have stamped them reviewed. 6. The doors will be installed with 1" bucks, therefore the fasteners shown on the Product testing sheets will be used. 7. Attached is a letter, dated January 7, 2015 from Fort Pierce Engineering, Inc. indicating that the replacement of the louvered jalousie door with a solid door, will not affect the performance of the mechanical equipment within this room.
