Response: Sheet A-4 has been revised for compliance with FBC 2014 5t" Edition Code. The
following explains our approach for using Icynene Insulation.
a. FBC 2014 5" Edition (2603.3): Icynene pro -seal MD-C-200V3 spray foam insulation
meets the requirements for flame spread index of not more than 75 (actual is <20 per
ASTM 84) and a smoke development index of not more than 450 (actual <400 per
ASTM E84).
b. FBC 2014 SL" Edition (2603.3 Exception #2): Maximum thickness tested per ASTM E84
was 4" therefor, the thickness specified on the drawings Sheet A-4 has been reduced
to 4" in lieu of 6". The 4" of Icynene MD-C-200V3 has an R-value of 27.0. The energy
code was calculated using R-22.9, therefor we are ok with the reduction in insulation
thickness. (A PDF copy of Energy Code is attached and included on the CD.)
c. FBC 2014 5`" Edition (2603.4): The spray foam is being separated from the interior of
the building by an equivalent thermal barrier using DC315, a spray applied
intumescent coating as manufactured by International Fire Proof Technology, Inc. This
product has been tested to meet UL1715 and NFPA 286 requirements as stipulated in
2603.4 and 2603.10 (Literature attached includes DC315 data, and evaluation report
ESR-3500 for the Icynene Insulation.)
6) PLEASE RE -SUBMIT ALL REQUIRED PLANS AND ASSOCIATED DOCUMENTS IN TRIPLICATE AND
ORIGINAL FORMAT FOR REVIEW * INCLUDE [ 21 PDF DISCS WITH ALL INFORMATION * WILL
SUGGEST A MEETING WITH ALL PROFESSIONALS TO REVIEW THE COMMENT LIST IF NECESSARY
Response: Attached please find all revised plans (and original void sheets) in triplicate as
requested. Also included are (2) two CD's with PDF's of plans and associated data for review. I
don't believe a meeting will be required but I am available for a telephone conversation,
should you need additional clarification.
If you have ions or need additional information, please contact us.
