The Micro Lab is located along the northern edge of the ATF East Campus Building. On -site withdrawal tests were performed at random locations to determine the average ultimate pullout value. The withdrawal tests achieved an average ultimate pullout value of 739.1 Ibs per fastener. The fastener patterns provided in the Engineering Letter titled 'Tropicana Fort Pierce - Micro Lab Building" were determined using an average ultimate pullout value of 180 Ibs per fastener, with a margin of safety for uplift resistance equal to 2.0. The fastening patterns. provided in the Engineering Letter were determined using various tested assemblies provided in Florida Product Approval (FPA) No. FL14083-R9, and do not exceed the force per fastener determined using the above stated FPA and tested pullout value. See Engineering Letter for additional information. After reviewing the fastener withdrawal test provided by Roof Leak Detection Company, Inc., it is our opinion the fastening patterns provided in the Engineering Letter are structurally adequate to resist the wind uplift pressures required when installed in accordance with the above stated FPA and Engineering Letter. The purpose of the visit was to visually observe the fastening patterns used to mechanically attach cover board and insulation to an existing steel roof deck. Cover Board and Insulation Attachment Findings The cover board fasteners and plates were not visible from the roof at the time of inspection. Although some of the plates could be located by touch, definitive patterns could not be determined. According to Sutter Roofing, 4'x8' insulation boards were installed using 16 fasteners per board in Zone 1, 28 fasteners per board in Zone 2 and 40 fasteners per board in Zone 3. Sutter Roofing has stated that 1/2" DensDeck Prime cover board and 1.5" ISO insulation were simultaneously fastened to existing 22 gauge steel roof deck using Carlisle Sure -Seal HP Fasteners with Carlisle Sure -Seal Insulation Plates. This complies with the insulation attachment specified in the engineering letter. See photographs on pages 2 and 3. Summary and Limitations - -- work ("As -Built Condition for Tropicana — Micro Lab Building" -by Sutter Roofing dated September 2, 2016) it our opinion that the fastening patterns installed are structurally adequate to resist the design wind pressures. The scope of this investigation does not include analysis of the load carrying capacity of the existing structure, and the fastener patterns provided in this report are based on the materials and fasteners stated above, provided by Sutter Roofing at the time of this investigation. See Engineering Letter "Tropicana Fort Pierce — Micro Lab Building" by Atlas Structural Engineering, LLC dated October 22, 2015 for additional information. The Micro Lab is located along the northern edge of the ATF East Campus Building. Factory Mutual Criteria and Design Wind Pressures As requested, Factory Mutual (FM) recommendations for installing mechanically fastened roof insulation, and design wind pressures determined in accordance with FM Data Sheet 1-28, were used to determine the fastener patterns provided in this report. The following criteria were used: Basic Wind Speed: V = 123 mph Exposure: C Internal Pressure Coefficient: +/- 0.18 (Enclosed Building / Protected Openings) According to the FM 1-28 Table 4, the Roof Field Area (Zone 1) Uplift Design Pressure is equal to 45 psf. The recommended roof ratings from Table 8 of FM 1-28 require an FM 1-90 rated system using the above criteria. The corresponding design pressures are as follows: Roof Field Area = -45.0 psf Roof Perimeter Area _ -75.0 psf Roof Corner Area = -112.5 psf -----T.he_pressures-stated=above=meet=or_exceed_the. minimum recommended_FM-Lrati_ngs providgd_in FM 1-29- Table_1_andihenominal Components -and Cladding uplift pressures -determined in accordance 10, Chapter 30, using the following criteria: Ultimate Wind Speed: V „= 158 mph Nominal Wind Speed: Vesd = 123 mph Exposure: C Risk Category: Category II Internal Pressure Coefficient: +/- 0.18 (Enclosed Building / Protected Openings) Pressures and edge distance were determined for a building with a flat roof, a maximum roof height of 30'-0" and a minimum overall width of 264'-0". Perimeter and Comer Areas are defined as being within 12'-0" of the edges and corners of the flat roof. Where the low roof of the Micro Lab intersects the ATF Building, Zone 3 may be treated as Zone 2 and Zone 2 may be treated as Zone 1.
