It has now become necessary for the building design to meet the Florida Building Code 2014. After analyzing the building to meet the FBC 14, I have found that the only change needed is to weld a 4" x 1/4" plate to the outside flange at frame 3 - column A. The plates shall be located to the inside of the building and on each side of the column web. The plates shall continue from the base plate to the top flange of the rafter. The plates will have to be split at the haunch of the rafter to miss the stiffener plates. The plates shall be welded all around with a 1/4" weld.
