Per your request, Florida Engineering & Testing Inc. has measured the existing metal roof deck thickness
and the spacing of the structural roof supports on January 21, 2016 to verify that the existing roof deck
meets the requirements specified on page 52 of 89, Deck Type 7I, in the Notice of Acceptance #13-
1212.04 which specifies "Min. 22 ga. steel deck with supports spaced maximum 6 ft. o.c."
Measurements:
FE&T measured the metal roof deck thickness with calibrated calipers and determined that the deck
thickness is 20 gauge. Additionally, the steel bar joist roof supports were measured to be spaced at a
maximum of 5 ft. o.c.
Conclusions:
We were able to determine that the existing steel roof deck is in general accordance with the
product approval requirements of a minimum 22 ga. steel deck with supports spaced at a maximum
of 6 ft. o.c.
