SCANNEU BY St. Lucie Count, General Notes for Chapter 7 Handrails -and GuardS 7 ' INDUSTRY STANDARD NOMENCLATURE: Many handrail/guardrail have [de facto] standard extrusion number designations or identification numbers. These standard designations appear on the section drawings (refer to appendix A) as ISN #'s. Designs predicated upon extrusions of alloy 6063T6, alloys 6005T5 or 6061T6 may be substituted. For the purposes of these specifications, Residential is defined as one or two family dwellings (refer to Exception 1, FBC 1607.7.1) Swimming Pool Fencing is 48" high but otherwise need not meet minimum load requirements. For commercial applications of pool fencing, gates must be self -closing, self -latching and lockable with a latch located near the top of the gate. Access gates, when provided, shall be self -dosing and shall comply v Ath the requirements of Sections 424.2.17.1.1 (FBC) through 424.2.17.1.7 (FBC) and shall be equipped with a self -latching locking device located on the pool side of the gate. Where the device release is located no less than 54 inches from the bottom of the gate, the device release mechanism may be located on either side of the gate and placed such that it cannot be reached by a young child over the top or through any opening or gap from the outside. Gates that provide access to the swimming pool must open outward away from the pool. The gates and barrier shall have no opening greater than 1/2 inch within 18 inches of the release mechanism.
