Project: (1) Sliding Glass Door Replacement:
Reese Residence, 10310 S Ocean Drive Unit 601, Jensen Beach, FL 34957
Dear Mr. Laprade:
Please know I personally completed the wind load analysis for the sliding glass door, model SGD-770, NOA,
16-0629.06 by PGT Industries, Impact rated aluminum.
The glass type can be Type 4, 4A, 6, 6A, 7, 7A, 8 or 8A for the SGD with a min. sill height of 4" and to be per
Table 3 on the NOA.
Using the ASCE7-10. The following parameters were used:
Sliding Glass Doors height is less than 70 feet;
Exposure D; Wind speed 170 mph; Enclosed Structure, wind zones 4 and 5;
When taking into account the external and internal pressure coefficients and adjustments per the ASCE7-10, the
resulting and governing applied wind pressure comes to +69.3 psf / -73.5 psf for the governing Zone 5.
With the tapcon type, spacing, edge distances and embedment and SGD installation completed per the NOA,
the allowable loads of +/-90psf for the SGD exceed the applied loads in these applications, and is acceptable to
this office.
It is recommended that all fasteners be of high quality stainless steel.
If you have any questions, please contact me at any time.
Thank you, - -
