This permit is for the construction of two 34 bed Assisted Living Facilities. Main Kitchen and a
Administration/assisted living facility
Assisted Living Facility Buildings A and B: Large facilities: 12,800 sq ft Gross:
1. With the installation of an automatic sprinkler systm a single attic draftstop will required
so no area will exceed 9,000 sq ft.
2. The walls across the corridor separating the main reception area from the living area are not
indicated as being a rated wall assembly or a smoke partition. If the doors in this wall are
protecting the opening for a smoke wall then an additional detector is required on both sides of
the door opening. Not indicated in the right corridor.
3. A Fire Alarm Annunciator panel is indicated at each nurses station. The Fire alarm
indicating devices shall be connected to a zoned fire alarm control panel. The annunciator panel
is then connected to the fire alarm control panel.
4. Chimes are indicated as audible signaling devices. They are permitted but must be heared
above the ambient noise level by a minimum of 15 DbA. with the doors closed.

5. The individual sleeping rooms indicate a strobe unit in each of these rooms. Audible
indication is also required. A Mini- home -Strobe indicating device is permitted.
6. Provide a 2A-10 BC rated fire extinguisher for each 75 ft of travel distance.
Kitchen
1. Provide a 3A-40 BC rated fire extinguisher for each side of the cooking appliances.
2. A separate permit is required for the installation of the required fixed fire protection system
Installation shall be by a Fl. Certified Contractor for fixed fire protection systems.
Administation - Adult Day Care
1. The stairway enclosure has to be protected with a Class B, 1-hour rated door and jamb
assembly equipped with a listed self -closing device. See doors marked F-4 and S-1.
2. The corridor door marked F-4 must also be a Class B, 1-hour rated door and jamb assemble if
if the door is installed in a 1-hour rated fire rated assembly, If these walls are smoke partitions
the doors need to have a fire resistance rating of 20 minutes. A latching device is not required in
a smoke partition door.
3. Provide a 2A-1 OBC rated fire extinguisher for each 75 ft of travel..
Fire Alarm System:
1. Installation of the fire alarm system will require a separate permit from the Fire Marshals
office. Installation shall -be by a FL. Certified alarm contractor or electrical contractor (EC).
2. Because the automatic sprinkler system has to be supervised by a central station facility or
remote station facility, the fire alarm system is also required to be monitored. See enclosed
attachment.
Automatic sprinkler system:
1. See attached requirements for the installation of the automatic sprinkler system.
2. Thrust blocks are not permitted for the underground sprinkler piping. Mechanical restraints
are required in lieu of thrust blocks.

3. The assisted living buildings may be protected with a N.F.P.A 13-R system instead of a
standard 13 system if you wish. All clients must be capable of fast evacuation (3 minute
evacuation) to the building exterior or a 1-hour rated corridor.
4. Fast responce of residential sprinklers are required in all rooms used for sleeping.
H V.A.0 System:
1. The H.V.A.0 notes idicating automatic fan shut -down. Note that the listed duct detectors
must be installed in the suply air.
2. Duct detectors shall initiate a supervisory and trouble signal in the fire alarm control panel
and the fire alarm annunciator panel or initiate a general evacuation signal.
3. All kitchen facilities must be protected with a commercial hood and duct system in
accordance with N.F.P.A Standard 96,.if there is cooking that will cause a grease laden vapor.
