Pursuant to your request, Federal Engineering & Testing, Inc. has reviewed the proposed scope of
services for the above referenced project site. The existing roof system consists of a cementitious
wood fiber roof deck covered with a built up roof system covered with a second system consisting
of EPS insulation board covered with a single ply membrane. It is our understanding that the top
roof system consisting of EPS insulation covered with a single ply membrane is to be removed and
disposed of. The remaining underlying roof system is to remain. Any areas of the underlying roof
system needing repairs will be addressed after removal of the upper roof system. After repairs, the
remaining roof system is to be covered with a Reinforced Maintenance. Coating System.
Due to the fact that the underlying roof system to remain in place does not have any layers of
insulation and is , placed on a porous cementitious roof deck; no trapped moisture is likely to remain
within the underlying root system after removal of the upper EPS insulation and membrane system;
therefore no TAS-126 moisture test would be needed. No additional fasteners are required for the
.new Reinforced Maintenance Coating System which is adhered directly to the existing roof system;
therefore no TAS-1 05 fastener withdrawal testing would be needed.
Federal Engineering & Testing, Inc. appreciates the opportunity to be of service to you at this phase
of yoW project. If you have any questions or comments, give us a call.
