6 Mastic (top coat)
. General
Apply a layer of Flexbond modified
asphalt mastic to the field of the
membrane at a rate of approx. 4
gallons per square. The intent is to
saturate the polyfiber with the mastic.
When applying mastic.to walls the
excess should be removed in order to
avoid 'slumping". The coated wall
should be brusher from top to bottom
in a downward motion.
Top coat of mastic must be applied in
such a way as to allow the worker to
bark off tire roof without having to walk
thru the finished layer of mastic.
Allow mastic to cure approx. 60-90
days before walking on the mastic.
Walkway may be installed over the top
layer of mastic immediately after
application. The walkway will adhere
to the roof and should be left in place,
therefore install the walkway with great
care giving consideration to the
appearance as will as the functionality.
When coating around penetrations or
-protrusions, care should be taken to
insure that all sides are coated,
avoiding unseen areas being missed.

should be noted that this first coat will
be somewhat inconsistent In color due
to the fact that some areas will have a
heavier coating than specified. Even
though the first Goat is the same color
as the top coat, the black asphalt
mastic will show thru this coat, this is
why this first coat is referred to as the
'Gray" coat.
