In a Room
Properly Insulate any tubing win Inside a =in to prevent 'sweating' that can cause ddp-
ping and water damage to walls and room.
In an Area with High Winds
Securely anchor the outdoor unit down with bolts and a metal frame.
Provide a suitable air baffle.
... In a Snowy Area (for Heat Pump -typo Systems)
Install the outdoor urift on a mised platform that is higher than drilling show
When Connecting Refirkdourant Tubing
Keep all tubing runs as short as possible.
Use the flare mathod for ounnecting tubing.
Apply refrigerant lubricant to the matcNng surfaces of the Care and union tubes before
connecting them, then tighten the nut with a torque wrench for a lealk-free connection.
Check carefully for leaks before opening the refrigerant valves.
When Servicing
Turn the power OFF at the main clasult breaker panel before opening the unit to check or
repair eli parts and wiring.

2. ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
2.1. Precautions for using R410A refrigerant
The basic Installation work procedures am the memo as conventional refrigerant
(R22) models.
However, pay careful attention to the following points:
Since the working pressure Is 1.6 times higher than that of conventional refrigerant
(R22) models, come of the piping and Installation and service tools am special. (See
the following table.)
Especially, when replacing a conventional refrigerant QW) model with a new refrigerant
R41 GA model, always replace the wrwentional piping and flase note with the R41 aA piping
and fare nuts.
Models that use refrigerant R410A have a different charging pod thread diameter 0 pra-
vent erroneous charging with conventional refrigerant (R22) and for safety. Therefore,
check beforehand. [The charging port thread diameter for R41 OA is 1/2-20 UNF.]
Be mom careful that foreign matter (oil, water, e1c.) does not enter the piping than with
refrigerant (R22) models. Also, when tiering the piping securely seat the opening by ,
pinching, taping, etc.
When charging the refrigerant. take Into account the slight change in the composition of
the gas and liquid phases. And always charge from the liquid phase where mftigemnt
composition Is stable.
Tool name
Contents of change
Pressure Is high and cannot be measured with a conven-
tional (R22) gauge. To prevent emoneous mixing of other
Gauge manifold
refrigerants, the diameter of each Pon has been changed.
It is recommended the gauge with seats -30 inHg to 768 psi
(-0.1 to 5.3 MPal for high pressure.
-30 !nHg 0 551 psi (-0.1 to 3.8 MPa) for low pressure.
Charge hose
To Increase pressure, resistance, the hose material and base
lum were changed.
Vacuum pump
A conventional vacuum pump can be used by Installing a
vacuum pump adapter
a detector
Special gas leakage detector for HFC refrigerant R410A.
Copper pipes
It is necessary to use seamless copper pipes and it is desirable that the mount of residual
oil is less Man 0.004 o7JI00 ft. (40 M9110 m). Do not use copper pipes having a collapsed,
defamed or discolored portion (especially on the interior surface). Otherwise, the expansion
value or capillary tube may become blocked with contaminants.
As an air conditioner using R41 0A incurs, pressure higher than when using R22, it Is ne
essary 0 choose adequate materials.
Do not use the existing (for R22) piping and flare note.
If the existing materials are used, the pressure inside the refrigerant cycle will dw and
cause failure, lnjury etc. (Use the special R41 DA materials.)
When Installing and relocating the air conditioner, do not mix gases other than the
w"Med refrigerant (R410A) to enter the mhigemnt cycle.
If air or other gas enters the refrigerant cycle, the pressure Inside the cycle will rise to
an abnormally high value and cause failure, Injury, etc.
' ±S WARINIING
For the air conditioner to operate satisfactorily install it as outlined in this installation
manual.
Connecit the Indoor unit and outdoor unit with the air conditioner piping and cables
suitable from your local distributor. This Installation manual describes the mmict con-
nectons using the instaliallon set available from your 1=1 distributor.
Do not turn on the power until all installation work Is complete.
I I Zt CAUTION
This installation manual describes how to install the Indoor unit only.
To Install the outdoor unit refer to the Installallon manual Included with the outdoor unit.
