During our inspection, we found a surface layer (approximately 8 to 12 inches thick) that is wet and very loose. Below the wet very loose layer a firm layer of clayed sand with shell fragment was found. We recommend to remove the wet very loose surface layer and replace it with clean fine-grained sand. It was necessary to use stone below the footing in order to achieve compaction requirements because of the high water table. It was necessary to use stone below the footing in order to achieve compaction requirements because of the high water table. We used a static cone penetrometer to verify the density of the stone and conclude the density of the stone below the footing exceeds 95% of the modified dry Proctor (ASTM D 1557). It was necessary to use stone below the footing in order to achieve compaction requirements because of the high water table.
