Dear Mr. Antolic:
Background:
The contract drawings dated 02i01/I018, attached for reference, included a detail which specified tack welding a
2"x6"x W plate to the top and bottom of the inside of the new eave strut in order to reinforce,the connection
to the existing roof purlin, see snip of detail below. In lieu of making the connection to the top and bottom
flanges, during construction bracket plate was used to connect the new eave strut to the existing purlin at the
midpoint. The connection to the mid -point relieves the stress concerns of making the connection to the top and
bottom (which are the points of maximum stress). The constructed detail, is sufficient to resist the applied loads
and.removes any required welding from the, project.
