(801) 936-1563 fax www.companionsystems.com 3146, 3147 and 3148 Installation Instructions 1.0 General SCANNED BY St. Lucie County 1.1 These instructions document the installation of the 3147, 3148 surround. 2.0 Customer Service 2.1 Installation questions concerning this unit can be handled by calling the manufacturer directly. Contact a customer service representative at 801-936-8082 or 800-258-8082. 2.2 Limited New Product Warranty 2.2.1 Products produced by Companion Systems Inc. (CSI) are covered by warranty. 2.2.2 Warranty related claims or questions can be made by calling CSI Customer Service at 801-936-8082 or 800-258-8082. 3.0 MAINTENANCE 3.1 Monthly 3.1.1 To protect the finish of the unit, wash with soap and water to remove dust, dirt and other debris. Wash and dry the exterior of the unit in a straight motion along the length of the unit. - Use=a_naturaL-chamois_or-terry_ctoth_towel_for drying. _ _ 3.1.2 Remove all accumulated trash and debris from around the unit. 3.2 Biannually 3.2.1 Wash and wax the exterior of the unit. Use any name brand liquid or paste automotive wax. Apply the wax in circular motion and finish by wiping in a straight motion along the length of the Product. This results in a uniform drying pattern. After it is applied to one section, move to the next section and let the first area dry (per the wax manufacturer recommendations). Then go back and polish the first area. Continue this process until the unit is completely waxed and polished. 3.3 Annually: 3.3.1 Inspect all electrical cords, connections and lighting. If a problem is found, or there are worn or defective part have them replaced. 3.3.2 Replace all lamps 4.0 Transportation and Handling 4.1 While transporting, uncrating, and handling, do not set the surround against any obstruction without the appropriate padding 4.2 The boxes should be examined when received for any shipping damage. If there is a failure to note damage at the time of delivery the installer will be held responsible for replacement or repair cost. 4.3 Remove the packing material on site unless damage has occurred. 4.4 When removing the surround from the packing material make sure not to damage the product while cutting off the plastic wrap. 5.0 Instructions 5.1 Hardware Included - Two top mounting clips - Two bottom mounting chairs - One suction cup 5.2 Tools and Supplies - Pencil or masking tape for marking the wall around the surround - Level - Wall anchors: Provided by the installer. If masonry use (8) 1 1/4" x 1/4" lag screws into 1/2" O.D. lead anchors, if stucco use. t/4" butterfly bolts. - Small socket set if using lag bolts. - Drilling Equipment 1/2" for anchor holes in the wall. Always check with the local building codes for requirements on communication and power. Modify the installation according to local requirements. Always use professional technicians for installing the power and communication equipment. 6.1.2 Please refer site configuration questions to the contract administrator of the bank. 6.1.3 Locate and remove top clips. The top clips are attached to or near the chair clips at the bottom of the unit. 6.2 Preparation for Retrofit installation (ATM is already in place) 6.2.1 The ATM may need to be moved forward 1/4" (or as required) at the base, this will create a 1/4" gap between ATM bezel and the wall to allow the surround to tuck behind it. 6.2.2 Remove the ATM bezel; be aware that doing so may trigger the alarm if it has not been shut off. If unfamiliar with this process have a qualified technician remove and replace the bezel. 6.2.3 Proceed to 6.3 6.3 Surround Installation 6.3.1 Marking top mounting location (Direct Mount): 6.3.1.1 Using two workmen set the surround in place. 6.3.1.2 Center the surround. 6.— 1.. -Place a Level on the side tc assure tharit is plumb. 6.3.1.4 Using a pencil mark the wall along the top of the surround and sides of the surround. 6.3.1.5 Using a pencil mark the wall through the mounting holes in the back of the surround. Use care not to damage the surround when moving it out of the way. 6.3.1.7 Install the appropriate fastening devices per the (wall fasteners) manufactures specification. 6.3.1.8 Determine the location for the electrical connection. Using a 1 t/z` hole saw cut a hole through. Or feed the cord through the ATM hole. 6.3.1.9 Electrical connection must be made inside the ATM room into a standard outlet. The load is approximately one amp; no new or dedicated circuit is required. Do not plug the surround electrical into a dedicated ATM power supply. 6.3.2 Installing the bottom chair clips 6.3.2.1 Feed the electrical cord through the ATM opening along side the ATM. If the plug will not fit, widen the ATM hole in the surround. Mark the location of the bottom clips 6.3.2.2 Remove the surround from the wall. 6.3.2.3 Remove bottom chair clips from the surround. 6.3.2.4 Place the clip against the wall on the pencil lines previously drawn (see Figure 2). Mark the wall around LINE the slotted holes Remove the clip. 6.3.2.5 Locate the center of the slotted Figure 2 hole. Make a note of the adjustments necessary and remove the surround and make any necessary adjustments. 6.3.2.7 Once the clips have been adjusted properly, push in on the sides of the surround and drill and drive the sheet metal screws through the chair into the surround. 6.3.2.8 If desired you may apply a small bead of silicon caulk around the perimeter of the surround at the interface between the wall and surround. 6.3.2.9 Insert electrical plug into a standard outlet in the ATM room using the cord provided. The load is approx. 1 amp so a new or dedicated outlet will not be necessary. Do not plug in to a dedicated ATM power supply. 6.3.2.10 Some surrounds will use either a toggle switch or push button assembly. It will be located on the top of the surround. Assure that the switch is in the on position. 6.4 Sign Installation 6.4.1 Removal 6.4.1.1.1 The sign is "tucked in" on both ends and is attached with a hook and loop fastening system. 6.4.1.1.2 Using the suction provided in the hardware pack, place the suction cup at the top center of the sign and pull in an outward direction until the hook and loop bond comes apart. Repeat the process at the bottom center of the sign. ".4�1:3—With the bona broken carefully run your fingers along the top and bottom edge of the sign until the bond is broken. 6.4.1.1.4 Bow the sign, at the center, in an outward direction until the ends can be pulled out of the slots at both ends of the sign opening. CMFREEMAN\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Outlook\4M6D N9IG\3146 3147 3148 Install.doc Revision D first can damage both the sign and the surround. 6.4.2 Installation 6.4.2.1 Place one end of the sign in the slot approximately t/4", bow the sign until the other end will slip into its corresponding slot. 6.4.2.2 Center the sign horizontally in the sign seat, making sure that both ends of the sign are tucked into the slots in the sign opening. 6.4.2.3 6.4.2.4 6.5 Waste Can Access With the sign in place press firmly around the perimeter of the sign. This is done to make sure that the hook and loop bonding system is properly engaged. Inspect the sign to make sure sign is securely1. :yw<' attached to the surround and that the ends of the sign are secured in the slots of the sign opening. 6.5.1 The access door for the waste can opens similar to a normal door; it is hinged on the bottom. 6.5.2 To open the waste can access door place your fingers through the waste opening. 6.5.3 Using your fingers pull the door until it disengages from the magnetic latch. 6.6 Finalization 6.6.1 Remove and dispose of all packing and construction material. 6.6.2 Clean the surround as explained in section 3.0. 7.0 Revision History -Revisio Dat Descri tion A 30/05/2011_ Initial Release C:\Users\Tanellw. The load is approx. 1 amp so a new or dedicated outlet will not be necessary.
