Anchor's condition and spacing were verified. The shutter was installed by Expert Shutter Services,
Inc. on 12/14/2005 (see attached document). The installed shutter was manufactured by American
Shutter Systems Association, Inc. The Florida Product Approval #FL389-R1 and associated documents
were reviewed.
Evaluation:
The unit is in St. Lucie County on the Oceanside of Hutchinson Island. At the time of installation, the
windload requirement was 140 MPH-3 second gust, Exposure D. Based on the ASCE 7-10, the
pressures for components and cladding for 140 MPH-3 second gust, Exposure D, is (+)51 psf and (-)
66 psf.
From the product approval document's data, 8 foot span (height), along with the ceiling mount detail 5
and floor mount details 6, 7 & 8, and the anchor spacing varying from 6-inches to 8-inches, the design
pressures range from 60 psf to 75 psf.
Based upon the above, the existing shutters comply with the Florida Building Code in effect at the time
of installation.
