4. REMOVE LOOSE OR DELAMINATED CONCRETE ABOVE DAMAGED OR OXIDIZED REINFORCING STEEL
ONCE INITIAL REMOVALS ARE MADE, PROCEED WITH THE UNDERCUTTING OF ALL EXPOSED
OXIDIZED (CORRODED) BARS. UNDERCUTTING WILL PROVIDE CLEARANCE FOR UNDER BAR
CLEANING, FULL BAR CIRCUMFERENCE BONDING TO SURROUNDINGS CONCRETE, AND WILL SECURE
THE PATCH STRUCTURALLY.
5. PROVIDE MINIMUM 3/4' CLEARANCE BETWEEN EXPOSED REPARS AND SURROUNDING CONCRETE
OR 1/4' LARGER THAN LARGEST AGGREGATE IN REPAIR MORTAR; WHICH EVER IS GREATER.
6. CONCRETE REMOVAL SHALL EXTEND ALONG THE BARS TO LOCATIONS ALONG THE BAR FREE
OF BOND INHIBITING C_OROSION, AND WHERE THE BAR IS WELL BONDED TO SURROUNDING
CONCRETE. MINIMUM EXPOSURE OF CLEAN STEEL IS 2. OF BAR.
7. IF UNOXIDIZED REINFORCING STEEL IS EXPOSED DURING.THE UNDERCUTTING PROCESS, CARE
SHALL BE TAKEN NOT TO DAMAGE THE BAR'S BOND TO SURROUNDING CONCRETE. IF BOND
BETWEEN BAR AND CONCRETE IS BROKEN,UNDERCUTTING OF THE BAR SHALL BE REQUIRED.
8. ANY REINFORCMENT WHICH IS LOOSE SHALL BE SECURED IN PLACE BY TYING TO OTHER
SECURED BARS OR BY OTHER APPROVED METHODS.

1. SHORING REQUIRED AT THE ENGINEER'S DISCRETION AND DIRECTION OR WHERE
EXCAVATED DECK EXCEEDS 25% OR 50 SFT.
2. ALL SHORES TO BE TELESCOPING STEEL SCREW JACKS WITH A RATED LOAD OF
5000 LETS MIN. WHEN EXTENDED TO 8' UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
3. ALL SHORING TO BE PLACED AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER AND PRIOR TO
EXCAVATION.
4. AFTER INSTALLING SHORES, TIGHTEN EACH SHORE TO HARD FIT PLUS 1/2 TURN.
5. SHORING POSTS SHALL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL NEWLY INSTALLED REPAIRS
