It was nice speaking with you this morning. A contractor by the name Chris Stevens2
,0,911aed unit
1007 in the building for complete renovation. The two permit #'s are 80 , k 12. He
was installing metal fur strips using 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" tapcon screws and the unit owner above lost
electrity. This owner believes that the work being done in the unit below is what caused the power
outage in the unit above. This contractor has lied to the board of directors before as to what he is
exactly doing for reno work in a unit so he is not trusted at all by the Board of Directors. The Boarc
of Directors has ordered the contractor to stop all work in the unit until an xray of the ceiling is
completed. We have consulted with a structural engineer and he indicated that 3/4" screws is well
sufficient enough for the work he is doing in the unit. Also, the contractor pointed out an exposed
post tension cable in the unit ceiling. It looks like a screw hole is right next to it which tells me he
almost hit it. He claims he did not put the hole there. See attached photos of the exposed post
tension cable and the metal fur strips that he installed on the ceiling.
We would like this documented in the permit and an engineering inspection order and report
provided to the owner and the Board of Directors.
