Units 706 & 708; 606 & 608; 506 & 508 Balcony decks spall excavation completed
Units 406 & 408; 306 & 308; 206 & 208 Balcony decks excavation not completed
Arrived on site, as requested by the contractor to observe the following:
1. Unit 706 & 708; 606 & 608; 506 & 508 balcony excavation complete. The mid -deck spalling of
the balcony has been excavated to expose the top of layers of approximately''/< inch
diameter welded wire fabric reinforcing and some deck rebar. (See Photographs 1-4)
2. Zinc anodes are to be,placed at 2 feet o/c per plan. Location of anodes placement was
determined and acceptable. SIKA Armatek 110 Epo-Cem is to be added to the existing and
new reinforcing after addition cleaning of wire. Then after anode installation per plan and
specifications, OK to pour concrete. Contractor must consolidate plastic concrete at time of
placement by mechanical means to remove voids.
3. Units 406 & 408; 206 & 208 balcony surface excavation indicates that Thru-Deck repair is
required. (See Photographs 5 & 6)
4. Units 306 & 308 balcony excavation was not complete.Contact engineer or provide
additional phots when repair area is expose for review.

Progress: Units 402' 404 balcony edge excavated with reinforcing in place.
Comments:
Arrived on site, as requested by the contractor to observe the following:
1. Units 402-404 balcony deck edge of the balcony has been excavated to expose. the ends of two
layers of approximately % inch diameter welded wire fabric reinforcing. (See Photograph 1). Repair
of balcony nosing edge per detail #1 sheet S2.0.
2. It was recommended that the contractor remove that portion.of tile over the repair for better
access to the top portion of the repair before the pour as it,may obstruct the repair.
3. Supplemental reinforcing has been added per plan. Two new #5 rebars that were added need to be
trimmed back to allow the proper concrete edge clearance of 1-1/2" at edge of the repair. (See
Photograph 2)
4. SIKA Armatek 110 Epo-Cem needsto be added to the existing and new reinforcing. Then a second
coat Armatek 110 needs to be applied to the repair prior final pour.
5. Zinc anodes are in place at 2 feet o/c per plan. (2) anodes are to be in the repair. Contractor to
document and forward pictures before pouring repair.
6. OK.to pour concrete per plan and specifications after anode installation.
7. Consolidate plastic concrete at time of placement by mechanical means.

Progress: Units 400-402 and 702 balcony deck damage assessment.
Comments:
Arrived on site, as requested by the contractor to observe the following:
1. Problems were found in the initial inspection as follows. Edge repair and under deck damage
was marked. Units 400-402 deck repairs were discovered and are requiring repairs. Edge repair
required at units 702.
2. Units 406-408 balcony repairs are completed. The mid deck of the balcony has been
completed.
3. The contractor was Informed to consider the means and methods for securing the entire
jobslte before the weekend in anticipation of the approaching Hurricane Dorian.
