WORK INSPECTED:
Balcony repairs in progress.
OBSERVATIONS:
• The existing tile was carefully removed and the deteriorated concrete was excavated.
• There are (2) affected post tension cables which have been located, locked off, and spliced away from the slab
edge as indicated in the permit document.
• There were existing galvanized electrical conduits within the slab which were in contact with the reinforcing
steel and found to be corroded due to electrolysis which have been replaced.
New reinforcing has been added, placed and coated with corrosion inhibitor.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
• Adjust all reinforcing to maintain the required clearances from the aluminum posts, galvanized conduits and
proper concrete coverages.
• Repour the concrete around the post tension anchors.
• Stress the cables after the concrete has attained a minimum of 4,000 psi.
• The post tension specialist General Building Services will submit the calibration certification for the hydraulic
ram used to tension the cables.
