QUGH January 5, 2014 To Whom It May Concern: Reference: PGT Industries Impact and Non -Impact Aluminum- Window Door Anchorage to 1/8" Thick Aluminum This letter is meant to address the anchorage of PGT products to 118" wall thickness aluminum structural elements. Aluminum must have the minimum strength of 6063T5. The structural adequacy of the aluminum element must be verified by others. Anchor size (10, 12, #14, etc.) and fastener spacing must be as specified in the applicable Miami -Dade County Notice of Acceptance for attachment to 2x wood bucks. Anchors into the aluminum must be sheet .metal type, and need to be long enough to have full thread bite into the aluminum wall. For example, if a self -drilling sheet metal screw is used it must be of the appropriate length to ensure that the drilling tip is past the wall of the aluminum and there is full thread engagement into the aluminum. Other window or door edges that are not attached to the aluminum must follow the applicable Miami - Dade County NOA anchorage requirements for that attachment type (Ix wood buck over concrete, 2x wood buck, etc.).
