AGGREGATE / CEMENT / CONCRETE PRODUCTS / FLY ASH Aggregate products are naturally occurring materials including limestone, dolomite, granite, volcanic rock, sand, gravel, and other siliceous materials. Cement products include Portland cement, masonry, pozzolan (Type IP), roof tile, and stucco. Concrete products include Portland cement and aggregate products including limestone, dolomite, granite, volcanic rock, sand, gravel, and other siliceous materials. These products, including fly ash, may contain more than 0.025% crystalline silica. Hazards: Freshly mixed wet cement and/or fly ash can cause eye irritation, skin and eye burns and allergic skin reactions. Dry concrete and aggregate dust may causerritation to eyes, skin, and/or respiratory tract. Dust from handling, crushing, grinding, cutting and/or drilling may contain silica, which may cause silicosis and cancer if inhaled. If ingested, keep warm, at rest, an drink large amounts of water. Fly Ash may contain trace amounts of ammo- nia. Moisture can cause the ammor is to be released. Inhalation of ammonia can cause coughing and irritation or burns of the nose, throat and lungs.. See physician. Health risk depends on duration and level of exposure. Safety: Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged contact with skin. Wear gloves, eye protection, and appropriate protective clothing. Wash hands thoroughly with mild soap and water after handling. Avoid breathing dust. If exposed to dust above recommended limits (see MSDS), wear suitable NIOSH-approved respiratory protection. Florida's Leading Engineering Source • Geotechnical - Construction Materials Testing • Threshold and Special Inspections • Plan Review & Code Compliance 'tFRNATIO" March 25, 2014 Standard Pacific Homes, South Florida 3201 West Commercial Blvd. #230 Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 33309 RE: Geotechnical Exploration - Riverbend Lot 26 NE Corner of Gilson Rd. & NW Turnabout Ln. St. Lucie County, Florida GFA Project # 13-0065.00 GFA International performed a geotechnical exploration for the site with Cone Penetrometer Test (CPT) soundings and auger borings on each lot. The results are presented in the GFA Geotechnical Report entitled "Proposed Riverbend Development: Lots 1 - 47" dated February 14, 2014. For Lot 26, the subsurface soil conditions are generally favorable for the support of the proposed structures on shallow foundations. An allowable bearing capacity of 2,500 or 3,000 psf may be used for foundation design provided the site preparation recommendations contained in the report are followed. For site preparation recommendations, basically the subgrade soils should be improved with compaction from the stripped grade prior to constructing the foundation pads. The top 2 feet below stripped grade should be compacted to a minimum of 95% density prior to placing fill to achieve final grade. Fill (including stemwall backfill) should be placed in 12-inch lifts and compacted to achieve a minimum 95% density. After excavation for footings, the subgrade to a depth of 2 feet below bottom of footings should be compacted to achieve- a minimum 95% density. Test results and inspection reports will be submitted under separate cover. We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project and look forward to a continued association.
