1 These tables list allowable pressures (W,), given as 0.6• W,i„ where W., is the wind pressure calculated in accordance with Chapters 26 and 30
of ASCE 7-10 using the ultimate design wind speed (Vult) and the variables given herein.
2 These tables are not valid as a site -specific drawing
3 These tables apply to walls and vertical surfaces only.
4 Use of these tables, and the values and coefficients listed herein is to be dictated and verified by the governing building department and permit holder.

these tables by 1.18. Verify Kd requirements with local
building official and product approvals before use.

Instructions
I Tables show the "worst case" design pressures, with any
unknown variable at its critical condition.
2 Tables are valid for any roof slope. For reductions for roof
slopes less than 10 degrees, consult Engineer for site
specific analysis.
3 Calculate the average roof height. If average cannot be
determined, use the peak roof height. Round up the roof
height to the next highest table value.
4 Calculate the tributary area (length x height) of the opening
in question. Round the tributary area down to the next
smallest table value. If the tributaryarea is unknown, use
the most critical value (10 square feet).
5 Area between structural mullions shall be used as tributary
area.
6 Determine the Zone (Interior 4, or Exterior 5) of the
opening. An opening with any portion closer than distance
"a" to a building comer shall be considered in an Exterior
Zone (5), otherwise if all of the opening falls more than
distance "a" from a building comer, the opening shall be
considered in an Interior Zone (4).
7 Distance "a," as refered to above, shall be calculated as the
smaller of 10% of the minimum building width or 40% of
the height, but not less than 3 feet.
8 Read the worst case positive and negative design pressures
for use as required by governing building department.

I - DEFINITION: THI5 PRODUCT 15 AN ACCORDION TYPE SHUTTER; DESIGNED, CONSTRUCTED AND
ERECTED TO EA51LY ENCLOSE AN AREA, PROVIDING PROTECTION FROM HURRICANE FORCE WINDS
AND WIND BORNE DEBRIS (LEVEL D OR LARGE MISSILE) WITHIN THE ALLOWABLE DESIGNED
PRESSURES AND LIMITATIONS STATED IN THIS APPROVAL.
2- CODE: THIS PRODUCT HAS BEEN TESTED AND DESIGNED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE 2010 FLORIDA
BUILDING CODE UNDER TA5 201, 202 AND 203, A5TM E330, ASTM E 188G * A5TM E 199G.
3- POSTING: A PERMANENT LABEL SHALL BE PROVIDED AS PER FBC 2010 SECTION 1715.8. IT SHALL BE
ONE LABEL PER OPENING LOCATED ON THE LOCK MATE BLADE.
4- LOAD5: DESIGNED LOAD CALCULATED BASED ON THE A5CE 7-10 AND PROVIDED BY A
PROFESSIONAL ARCHITECT OK ENGINEER FOR EACH SPECIFIC PROJECT. THE CALCULATED DESIGNED
PRESSURE MUST NOT EXCEED THE ALLOWABLE PRESSURES FOR EACH SHUTTER COMPONENT TO BE
USED.
5- MATERIAL: ALL EXTRUDED ALUMINUM SHAPES SHALL BE MADE of GOG3-TG OR AS NOTED.
G- FASTENERS: ASSEMBLY SCREWS AND ANCHORS SHALL BE AS SPECIFIED IN THE CURRENT SET OF
DRAWINGS. INSTALLATION AND LOADS AS PER THI5 APPROVAL.
7- USE: IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR, ARCHITECT OR ENGINEER OF RECORD
TO VERIFYTHIf FOLLOWING:
7. 1- THE STABILITY OF THE STRUCTURE WHERE THE SHUTTER IS TO BE ATTACHED INSURING PROPER
ANCHORAGE.
7.2- THE SITE SPECIFIC PROJECT CRITERIA, SUCH AS BUT NOT LIMITED TO, WIND LOADS, LOCAL CODE
REQUIREMENTS, DESIGNED PRESSURES ETC.
7.3- THAT THI5 APPROVAL 15 ADEQUATE TO THE SPECIFIC PROJECT.
8- 33 1/3% INCREASE IN ALLOWABLE LOADS HAVE NOT BEEN USED IN THE DE51GN OF THE ANCHORS
FOR THI5 PRODUCT APPROVAL. HOWEVER, WOOD ANCHORS WITH I .G LOAD DURATION INCREASE
FOR WIND LOAD HAVE BEEN USED.
USER INSTRUCTIONS:
I - DETERMINE PROJECT DESIGN WIND LOAD PRESSURES AS PER ITEM 4 OF GENERAL NOTES.
2- CHECK BLADE SPAN ALLOWABLE DE51GN PRESSURE ON TABLE I OR TABLE IA.
3- VERIFY GLA55 SEPARATION ON TABLE 2 IF APPLICABLE.
4- DETERMINE MAXIMUM ANCHORAGE PRESSURE CAPACITY FUNCTION OF SECTION TYPE TO BE USED AS
PER SHEETS 3, 4, 5 f- G. SECTIONS ARE INTERCHANGEABLE.
5- THE LOWEST PRESSURE FROM ITEMS 2 AND 4 ABOVE MUST NOT EXCEED THE REQUIRED DESIGN
