He has invited noted Florida museum curators and State officials from Tallahassee. Lee Monica from the State, James Murphy, Tallahassee Museum Curator, Robin Poinner from Gainesville, and Ken Rollins, curator of the Tampa Art Museum are among those invited. This is the largest show of non-commercial art in the State of Florida and consists of 33 artists with the largest number of female sculptures. All artists are from Florida – Central, North, and West Florida. Coach Fenn expressed concern for possible damage to these sculptures. Jody Bonet assured the committee that the pieces are insured. John Hayes reported that the “Dragon” piece about to be installed was in the shop being repainted because it came from Tallahassee where vandals had painted the teeth white. Every attempt to position sculptures where they will be least damaged has been taken into consideration. Call-To-Artists Jody Bonet stated that the call-to-artists has not been done for the three locations on the current agenda: the Courthouse – Clerk of Court area; The Avenue 13 and Avenue D park and the Avenue D and Avenue 15 roundabout. John suggested the committee look at some of the WoW2 pieces as possible permanent pieces for these locations. Art History Joe Holiday shared a short piece from “Federalist Papers” in which he noted the Federal Arts Projects began in 1935 to relieve the economic plight of US citizens. The Art Project 1935-43, the Music Project 1935-43, the Theater Project 1935-43 and the Writers’ Project 1935-39. The meeting adjourned at 4:30 PM.
